Gardners and Ergo launch a 6-inch GoTab Android tablet with Hive Reader
The UK companies Ergo Electronics and Gardners Books have just introduced a new slate PC, called GoTab GBT6, as part of the Gardners Books Tradeshow. According to the manufacturer, the portable device can be used both as an eBook Reader and as a regular tablet computer. Based on an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the GBT6 will reportedly hit the store shelves in the United Kingdom sometime next month, priced at £59 (about $96).
Ergo claims its latest GoTab model comes with a pre-loaded Hive Reader application that lets you purchase ePub and PDF eBooks from Hive UK’s site. Furthermore, the tablet is Google-approved, which means users can access over 400,000 apps on the Play Store.
Weighing 230grams, the GBT6 is powered by a Mali 400 GPU and an unknown ARM central processing unit operating at a frequency of 1GHz. Apparently, the mobile device sports a 6-inch capacitive multi-touch LED-backlit display (16:9 aspect ratio) with a native resolution of 800-by-480 pixels (155ppi density).
Beneath the HD panel, the slate PC features 512MB of DDR3 memory, 4GB of on-board storage (up to 32GB through the integrated microSD card slot) and a 2,000mAh battery that supposedly lasts for around 4 hours. Other specs of the 11mm thick GoTab include one microUSB port, a front-facing VGA web camera for video calls, a Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n module and one built-in speaker.
