Blizzard's Battle.net will get a new name. Apart from that, everything will stay the same.
The online gaming platform Battle.net by game developer Blizzard will soon get a new name.

Battle.net is an online gaming platform that links millions of players. It belongs to Blizzard, the iconic developer who brought us gaming brands like "Warcraft" or "Diablo". But it seems, Blizzard doesn't like the name "Battle.net" any longer and thus states in a blog entry that the platform will soon be renamed.

All online gaming service will get new names that are related to the company's name "Blizzard". The company states that this is necessary as people keep asking whether Blizzard and Battle.net are the same company. Also, online multiplayer gaming has become such an integral part of modern games, that a seperate name for an online gaming platform is no longer necessary, says Blizzard.

Some services already have new names like "Blizzard Streaming" or "Blizzard Voice". Over the next months the transistion to the new naming scheme will happen step by step.
