Gadget Labs Falcon is an 8-inch convertible laptop with a modern Pentium Silver CPU
13-inch and 15-inch laptops are very popular sizes for travel and general work. Users considering an inexpensive secondary laptop for backup purposes may want a smaller display size for easier carrying. The upcoming Falcon convertible laptop from Gadget Labs aims to fit this niche with its small 8-inch screen size and modern hardware features.
Much like the popular HP Spectre x360 13, Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, and Asus Zenbook Flip, the Gadget Labs Falcon utilizes 360-degree hinges for added versatility. Unlike most netbooks, however, the Falcon also includes a full-metal chassis, water-resistant keyboard, USB Type-C port, and 1080p IPS display. The manufacturer is promising a Pentium Silver SoC that will likely be the J5005 or N5000 with integrated UHD Graphics 605. A Pentium processor should provide significantly faster performance than an Atom processor that is unfortunately very common in ultra-small laptops of this size.
Other core specifications include:
- Intel Pentium Silver SoC
- 8-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS touchscreen
- 8 GB RAM
- 256 GB SSD
- 1x USB 3.0, USB Type-C, HDMI, 3.5 mm headphone
- 6000 mAh battery (up to 8-hour of battery life)
- 203 x 130.5 x 13 mm
- 550 g
The Falcon will launch as a Kickstarter project on October 16 with hopefully more details other than the single press image provided. We will update this page as more specifications and prices become known.
