Foremay comes up with world’s fastest 5-mm to 3.3-mm SSDs

Foremay has come out with what it claims to be the World's Fastest 1.8-inch micro SATA SSD to be used for HPC and enterprise servers, for high-end

laptops as well as for industrial Pc’s. Foremay, Inc. made an official announcement about the ultra slim SSDs that would use standard 1.8-inch micro SATA SSD interfaces. Also in its announcement carried out on Tuesday the Pasadena based company added that the SC199 family was built for industrial operating temperatures using a 5-mm thickness and metal housing.

The new SSDs by Foremay i.e. the SC199, EC188 and OC177 product families, range in thickness from 5-mm to 3.3-mm, offer read/write speeds of up to 280 MB/s, and 4 KB random IOPS of 30,000 (read) and 15,000 (write). According to Foremay, the EC188 model is meant for commercial operating temperatures and will also feature a thickness of 5-mm and metal housing. The slimmest of the entire lot will be the OC177 model that would in turn feature a 3.3-mm thick housing-free design for both commercial and industrial operating temperatures. The additional models available for purchase would be anything between the 1.8-inch IDE models to 3.5-inch SCSI versions which are available in all three SSD families.

Also it is pertinent to mention that the drives offering capacities of up to 400 GB will be sized at less than around 7-mm the size of an average credit card. According to Foremay VP of Marketing Jason Hoover, the 1.8-inch SATA SSD would empower the development of engineering designs favoring a sleek and compact sized generation of computers that can be used for a variety of applications ranging from industrial to commercial to enterprise.

For purchase, contact has to be made directly with the manufacturer i.e. Foremay - there is no other channel for purchasing. The Company has however not clarified details regarding the price.
