Eurocom M4

The Eurocom M4 is first and foremost a gaming laptop and therefore, users should not expect it to be extremely slim or light. Firstly, the structure of the laptop is made of a greyish black plastic exterior. The plastic does have a rubbery texture that increases grip and makes carrying easier. The display panel is 13.3 inch and the entire laptop has a thickness of about 1.28 inches (3.25 cm). The M4 weighs about 4.4 pounds (2 kg), which is relatively lighter than many of its contemporaries. The lid and the bottom of the keypad have sharp inward curving designs. The 13.3 inch IPS display features a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels and wide viewing angles. Due to its glossy surface, viewing in glaring bright light is a challenge. There is an added security feature in the form of an integrated Trusted Platform module 1.2 produced by Infineon Technologies, which will help to certify any digital certificates, passwords and keys from software installed to avoid software attack. Hardware wise, there are a 2.5 GHz dual-core i5-4210M processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 860M graphics card with 2 GB DDR5 VRAM and a 500 GB hard drive for all your files. The only downside so far is that the cooling fans tend to be a tad bit noisy. Compared to many gaming laptops on the market, however, it is relatively good in terms of portability.

The Eurocom M4 is one of the notebooks we’re able to give an Editor’s Choice award without much second thought. Its only real downside is the relatively loud fan, which turns on while gaming. The M4 otherwise excels in just about every area. It has great gaming performance as configured, a beautiful QHD+ (3200×1800) display, good touchpad, backlit keyboard, solid quality, and gets about 6 hours of battery life under light usage. The M4 is a little chunky compared to a standard 13.3-inch notebook, but this isn’t an ordinary 13.3-inch notebook.

Eurocom managed to squeeze some impressive hardware into a 13-inch gaming laptop. The M4 absolutely screams, offering smooth frame rates on even the latest titles. We also like the sharp QHD screen, even if the color accuracy isn't great. Where the M4 falls flat is its short battery life and noisy fan. The M4 also runs hotter than we'd like.

Well, the Clevo P650SG is the bigger brother of the P650SE (review here). The specs are almost the same except the GTX 980M GPU. The case is a little bigger and can house two 9.5mm Sata devices vs 9.5mm + 7mm devices in the P650SE. Looks, weight, dimensions are generally the same. So is the cooling system, keyboard and touchpad quality, connection ports and speakers.

The Eurocom M5 Pro made quite a name for itself with almost no downsides other than its pricey configuration. We gave it high marks for its quality construction, pleasing design, productive keyboard and touchpad, excellent gaming performance, and effective cooling system. The 4K display on our review unit has good picture quality though the resolution is too high to play most modern games.

Well, few things.Let’s talk about the M5 as 970M machine and also if it’s a good deal for gamers. One. The M5 Pro is a good machine in my opinion, for gamers. You get the maximal performance of I7 and GTX 970M with a very good 1080p IPS display, good enough keyboard and nice looks.

Comment

Eurocom: Eurocom Corporation is a computer hardware manufacturing company founded in 1989 with offices in Canada and USA. Eurocom produces Desktop Replacement Notebooks and Mobile Workstations.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M: Upper mid-range graphics card from the GeForce GTX 800M series.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M:

Second fastest high-end graphics card based on the Maxwell GM204 chip from the GeForce GTX 900M series.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

4940MX: Mobile quad-core processor based on the Haswell architecture. Fastest CPU in Q1/2014 with an unlocked multiplier.

4710HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.5 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.

2 kg:

2.6 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

71.67%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
