EA Sports teases FIFA 21 & Madden NFL 21 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X
As expected, EA Sports is bringing its roster of sports games to next-generation consoles. Likely launch titles for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, EA Sports included the briefest of glimpses "game engine footage" of both games in a trailer published yesterday. We should clarify that "game engine footage" does not necessarily mean in-game footage, so FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21 may not look as detailed when being played on the PS5 or Xbox Series X as they do here. According to EA Sports, the games will make use of the next-generation consoles in the following ways:
Controller haptics
Sense the impact of shots, passes, catches, kicks, tackles, and hits with immersive controller haptics. A new DualSense controller on PlayStation 5 with rich and responsive haptic feedback deepens the gameplay experience letting you feel the rhythm of the game in your hands.
Blazing fast load times
Faster load times get you in the game quicker than ever. Never lose focus as stadium environments will load with unprecedented speed, letting you get to the kick-off in seconds.
Deferred lighting & rendering
Authentic new environments, unlocked by a new deferred lighting system create ultra-realistic football experiences and player fidelity, enhancing the game in every part of the stadium.
Reimagined player bodies
Next-gen technology creates deeper definition in player physiques, while dynamic lighting accentuates details such as faces, hair, kits, and uniforms to take athletes to a whole new level of realism.
Spatialized audio
Whether you're running out of the tunnel in Atlanta or leaping into the stands in Green Bay, hear the spine-tingling roar of the stadium thanks to spatialized audio technology new to Madden that wraps around you for a completely immersive experience.
FIFA 21 and Madden NFL 21 are coming to current-generation consoles and PC too. Both are available to pre-order now for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC via Origin and Steam. EA Sports will release FIFA 21 on October 6, with Madden NFL arriving on August 28. FIFA 21 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch too, although EA Sports is yet to specify a release date. FIFA 21 is another Legacy Edition outing for the Nintendo Switch, meaning that EA Sports will only update kits, squads, in-game menus and broadcast overlays.
