Doogee launches S90 modular rugged smartphone
The new S90 rugged handheld from Chinese phone maker Doogee has recently completed its crowdfunding session through Kickstarter and is now available on AliExpress, Amazon and the company’s official site. Doogee already has a few rugged versions, but the new S90 is the first one to allow for swappable modules that attach via 24 metal points and magnets, similar to Moto's mods.
The four modules that come with the launch package include a night vision camera, a digital walkie-talkie, a 5,000 mAh powerbank and a left-side-mounted game controller. Doogee stated that more modules will be released throughout this year, with a 5G modem module being scheduled for Q3 2019.
Here is a quick rundown of the specs:
• Mediatek Helio P60 octa-core SoC
• 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage
• 6.18-inch IPS display with 2246 x 1080 resolution
• Dual-SIM
• 8 MP selfie cam and 16 MP + 8 MP rear camera setup
• Android 8.1
Doogee claims that the new S90 is one of the toughest devices on the market, as it comes with military grade metal and polycarbonate casing that isdesigned to withstand extreme temperatures, drops, explosive shocks, water, salt corrosion, mold, vibrations etc.
Starting February 21, AliExpress will be featuring special prices for the Dogee S90 for a whole week. Only during this campaign, the S90 alone will be available for US$299.99, while the handheld plus the power / night vision / walkie-talkie modules will be priced at US$399.99.
