The high-performance portable PC can be configured with an overclocked Intel Extreme Edition CPU, latest NVIDIA/AMD GPUs and up to 32GB of RAM

The Fremont, CA-based manufacturer of custom desktop and notebook gaming computers, Digital Storm has announced in a press release that it is launching a new high-performance portable PC, dubbed X17E. Described by the company as “the fastest gaming laptop on the market”, the system will be available for purchase at the end of September, priced at $1,753 and up.

Reportedly, the X17E is powered by a third generation (aka Ivy Bridge) Extreme Edition Intel Core i7-3920XM processor, which offers four cores running at 2.9GHz – 3.8GHz, eight threads and 8MB of L3 cache. In addition, Digital Storm claims their technicians can stably overclock the CPU to 4.5GHz for “an unrivalled gaming experience”.

Users are further provided with a 17.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display of Full HD native resolution (1920-by-1080 pixels) and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M (28nm, 4GB GDDR5 VRAM) or an AMD Radeon HD 7970M (28nm, 2GB GDDR5 VRAM) GPU.

Other specs presumably include up to 32GB of internal memory, eSATA and USB 3.0 connectivity, 9-in-1 media card reader slot, built-in Blu-ray optical drive, hybrid storage (SSD + HDD) and a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

Digital Storm will also be selling, for a yet undisclosed price, an X17E Signature Edition model that apparently features distinctive branding, a custom paint job and special packaging.
