All said and done, the Dell Vostro 3300 laptop is a sophisticated 13-inch business laptop, combining elegant style with top-notch performance. The Dell Vostro 3300 is decently priced for a business laptop -- it's available for as low as Rs. 36,000 but our review sample's configuration sells for a price of Rs. 50,000. It offers much better performance than the Dell Vostro V13, Lenovo Thinkpad T400s, and HP ProBook 4520s, comes with a nice feature set and security software tailored for business usage. If you run your own business or are part of a small organization craving for a premium-looking, stylish compact 13-inch business laptop which is thin and light with excellent performance, we highly recommend the new Dell Vostro 3300.

Overall, the Dell Vostro 3300 hits a solid combination of features in a sleek, compact package. Dell has managed to make an ultrathin small-business laptop that's just a little sexy, but also just boring enough not to attract too much attention.

The Dell Vostro V3300 offers plenty of performance and style to small business customers for a reasonable price. Youll just need to make sure to attach the somewhat hefty 8-cell battery to get more than 5 hours of battery life. The similarly priced Lenovo L412 has a slightly larger 14-inch screen and comparable performance. Some may prefer the Core i3-powered Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14, but overall we prefer the Vostro because its powerful yet still fairly portable.

Small businesses no longer have five-figure budgets to spend on laptops. Even big corporations are cutting down on IT expenditures. For this reason, Dell launched its Vostro line a couple of years ago, geared toward small businesses, startups, and corporations that don't need the bells and whistles of an enterprise laptop. The Dell Vostro 3300 ($1,142 direct) is very mobile, as it's the smallest in this line and features a 13.3-inch widescreen. Though it's small in size, it sports powerful parts can cater to any big league professional. I wouldn't recommend buying it without the 80WH (8-cell) battery, though.

Positioned between the business-targeted Latitude and the mainstream consumer Inspiron lines, Dell's Vostro has always been the type of computer that's half-meant for personal use, half for business: it's casual professional.v The small-business-targeted Dell Vostro 3300 is a compact, stylish-looking laptop selling at a price that's reasonable. If it had a more robust battery, this would be an excellent travel companion.

Overall I come away being impressed with the Dell Vostro 3300 as it offers a lot of bang for the buck. For under $700 I got a high quality built laptop with good performance and a light weight. The poor battery life is a bummer for sure, if you need more than four hours on battery you’ll have to get the larger 8-cell battery which will add weight and cost. The fact you get a new Core i3 or i5 processor, optical drive built-in, weight of around 4 lbs, aluminum case, appealing design and very mobile form factor all for $700 - $1,000 depending on the configuration I would consider the Vostro 3300 a strong buy for students and business workers that are interested in this laptop.

Third dimension. Apparently, there is a trend to 13-inch notebooks. That's not surprising, because this size offers an excellent mobility and at the same time a performance close to bigger competitors.

Dell: Dell Inc. is a multinational technology corporation that develops, manufactures, sells, and supports personal computers and other computer-related products. Based in Texas, Dell employs more than 82,700 people worldwide (2009). In 2006, Dell purchased the computer hardware manufacturer Alienware. In most countries, the laptops are directly sold to consumers by Dell and each notebook custom-assembled according to a selection of options. Market share regarding sales of personal computers in 2007 (market research IDC): HP 18.9 %, Dell 16.4 %, Acer 9.9 %, Lenovo 7.5 %, Apple 5.7 %
NVIDIA GeForce 310M: The GeForce 310M is the successor of the GeFore G210M and based on the same chip with very similar clock rates (shader speed +30MHz to 1530MHz).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Onboard graphics card that is built in the new Arrandale CPUs (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Cores). Depending on the model and Turbo Boost, the GMA HD is clocked between 166 and 766 MHz.
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.
Intel Core i5:
430M:
The Core i5-430M is a middle class dual core CPU that features only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-640M) and clocks between 2.26-2.53 GHz (Turbo Mode). Furthermore, VT-d, trusted Execution and AES features are missing in the 430M. Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics with 500-733 MHz) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
Intel Core i3:
370M: The Core i3-370M is a fast clocked Core i3. The TurboBoost, AES, VTd, and Trusted Execution functions are deactivated in the i3-series. Therefore, it always clocks with max. 2.4 GHz (of course Speedstep is included). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.
13.3: This is a common display format for subnotebooks. Netbooks, UMPC and some subnotebooks have tinier displays. Nevertheless, the majority of standard laptops has a higher format. The advantage of a small display is, that the subnotebook can be small dimensioned and can be carried easily. Further the small display needs few energy, which improves the battery runtime and in consequence the mobility. The disadvantage is that the reading of texts is a bit exhausting for the eyes, especially with high resolutions.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
1.8 kg:
These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 12 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
1.973 kg:
75.73%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
