Ultra-Business. Dell has updated its Latitude series and added a number of new models. The Dell Latitude E7240 is a compact 12-inch business ultrabook, which wants to convince with professional equipment and premium features. We extensively tested how well it succeeds at this.

The Dell Latitude E7240 is an attractive business ultraportable, but underneath its good looks is a fairly average laptop. At £947 (£789 ex VAT), it's also very expensive and not nearly as good value as the similarly priced Core i5 version of the HP Elitebook 840 G1.

The Dell Latitude E7240 may not provide the all-round class of consumer Ultrabooks – and it’s certainly nowhere near as desirable as its hybrid stablemate, the Dell XPS 12 – but it’s a solid addition to the Latitude family, with excellent connectivity and battery life, and the sort of build quality that should see it survive a long, tough life in the office.

With the Latitude E7240 Touch, Dell has really spruced up its line of business notebooks. We love this laptop's sturdy design and attractive carbon fiber lid. We also appreciate the vivid 1920 x 1080 touch display, excellent keyboard and robust security. Unfortunately, this laptop's 4-cell battery doesn't last nearly as long as competing Ultrabooks -- and there's currently no extended battery option.

Dell Latitude E7240 Touch

Those with some extra money looking for a higher-end laptop, the Dell Latitude E7240 Touch is a contender. It is targeted more to those in a business responsible for spearheading new technology adoption, in this case to test out Windows 8 before deploying it. The 12.5 inch ultrabook is only 0.79 inches thick and weighs 3 lbs (1.36 kg).

The chassis is a combination of metal and carbon fiber with a MIL-SPEC construction, perfect for the on-the-go business person. In addition to this, its spillage, heat and dust resistant; definitely enough to handle most if not all the abuse you can dish out. The 10-point capacitive touchscreen has a 1920 by 1080 resolution and it's an IPS screen, ensuring great viewing angles and brightness.

Sporting an Intel i5 4th generation processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD; running most of your applications will be a breeze. Even with this configuration, the battery can last up to 7+ hours of mixed use; a great length for its performance level.

The Dell Latitude E7240 Touch is a portable yet rugged ultrabook with fast performance, the price however is very premium but if money is not a problem for you, this device could be what you're looking for.

The Business Touch. The well-received 12.5-inch Latitude gets a touchscreen update and an even brighter display. We take the U.S. model for a quick benchmarking round in this updated review.

Dell has been a long-time player in the enterprise market and its Latitude range of mobile computers are a key part of that strategy. The latest addition to the Latitude range doesn’t have the eye-catching design of convertible devices such as the company’s XPS 12, but the Latitude 12 7000 is a robust, functional and highly manageable 12.5-inch Ultrabook that is a snap to deploy, monitor, secure and update.

Source: PC World English Archive.org version
The price of the Latitude reflects its corporate/business focus, and part of its cost can be attributed to its three-year warranty with on-site service (after remote diagnosis). Four- and five-year plans are available at extra cost, as are accidental damage coverage, extended battery service, and data recovery insurance. If you’ve read my reviews in the past, you’ll know I’m a desktop replacement kind of guy. But if I wanted a new 12-inch to trek about to IT gigs, the Latitude E7240 would be on my short list.

The Dell Latitude E7240 Touch is quite portable and innovative, but as usual innovation comes at a price. Even though the E7240 Touch has a 1080p screen and some ruggedization, both the Dell Latitude 6430u and Sony VAIO Pro 13 are better buys. Both are much less expensive, and the VAIO Pro 13 has a 1,920 by 1,080 screen that is as bright and useful as the one on the Latitude E7240 Touch. Essentially, if you need the higher resolution touch screen, the ruggedization, and if you are a Dell shop, then the Latitude E7240 Touch is a good laptop for your Windows 8 vanguard team.

Dell Latitude 12 E5250

The Dell Latitude 12 E5250 is a business oriented laptop that looks the part while packing in capable hardware specifications. The 1.67 kg laptop is extremely portable largely due to the compact design and materials used for construction. The entire chassis comes in a professional black and the front cover is made out of magnesium alloy. All the edges are rounded off for better fit in bags while keyboard and touchpad are tactile and sensitive enough. There is a 12.5 inch 16:9 TN screen with matte finish to prevent reflections during on-the-go usage. The screen produces good contrast and sharpness but can be found to be subpar when it comes to brightness. At the heart of the Dell Latitude 12 E5250 is an Intel Core i5-4310U processor clocked at 2 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz RAM and an Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU. This setup is fully capable for office works and working on the move. There is a Sanddisk X110 SSD with 256 GB capacity and this greatly improves start-up and response times. Other technology on-board consists of three USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI out, a Display Port out and Bluetooth 4.0. The Dell Latitude 12 E5250 also takes security into serious consideration with features such as a card reader and fingerprint sensor. There is a 40 Wh Lithium-Ion, three cells battery with express charge ensuring power on the go.

Little business partner. Following the positive rating of Dell's Latitude E5450 product line, we tested the 12.5-inch Latitude E5250. However, it did not completely fulfill the high expectations.

The Dell offers reasonable power in a sturdy, well-made body, but its key rivals are better in every area – and they're no more expensive, either, if you opt for comparable specifications. The Lenovo ThinkPad and Dell XPS offer more bang for your buck in conventional laptop categories, so we'd only stick with the Latitude if you specifically need its various business features.

So the question is, should you consider it? If a small, well-built, yet highly functional and comfortable-to-use laptop is needed for your business, then the Latitude E5250 is an excellent choice. We do have some qualms about its screen quality and the speed of its SSD, but unless you need a higher resolution IPS screen, and more overall speed, those things shouldn't bother you.

The Dell Latitude E5250 is a dependable ultraportable that can take all of the dings that come with office and commuting life. It offers good battery life, fairly strong performance and a comfortable keyboard. However, our $1,861 configuration is too expensive for what you get; we suggest starting with the $948 Core i5 model and adding the full-HD touch screen ($217), which brings the total to $1,165.

The Latitude 12 E5250 is a capable laptop with state-of-the-art connectivity and good performance. Mid-range workhorse. Dell's business-oriented 14-inch Latitude 5480 is a rather unassuming notebook with a host of security features and configuration options. Its standout feature is without a doubt the stellar battery life, but compared to the predecessor, the display brightness has taken a major hit.

The ThinkPad T460, which will soon be replaced with a Kaby Lake version, has a brighter, more colorful display, longer endurance and a better keyboard. However, if you're looking for a powerful, well-made business laptop, the Latitude 5480 should be near the top of your list. Just make sure you get the extended battery.

Smaller and sleeker. Dell’s latest 7000 series ultraportable migrates even further toward high-end consumer-grade luxury, even while maintaining most of what sets a business-grade machine apart from its mass market brethren. Does it remain a top contender?

With the fashionable trend toward thinner screen bezels, you can quibble about the prospects for 12.5- versus 13.3-inch ultraportables; anything that causes less squinting is a bonus in our book. For now, however, the 12.5-inch size remains a good bet for crowded briefcases, and the Latitude a leading contender in the class. Both the Latitude 7280 and the ThinkPad X270 have a lot to recommend them. If you're not swayed by the Lenovo's user-changeable battery or the Dell's Thunderbolt 3 port, we'll settle it based on thinness and weight: Advantage Latitude.

The other ultrabook that likely will catch your eye if you are considering the Latitude 7280 is the ThinkPad X270 (or for that matter, the previous-gen X260, which was a machine for the ages). With a similar configuration as our Latitude 7280 test system, you’ll find, not surprisingly, that the ThinkPad X270 has a similarly high price. Its key strengths versus this Latitude: the killer ThinkPad keyboard, and a dual removable-battery configuration that looks promising, along the lines of what's in the also-five-star ThinkPad T460. That said, the X270 configurations do not offer the IR camera, and only a one-year warranty comes standard. Both models, however, are winners if you or your office has the budget for durable, powerful, and long-running ultrabooks. Today, as refined as both of these business laptop lines are, it's all just degrees of good.

A longitudinal update. The Latitude series has begun phasing out the proprietary E-port in favor of the more versatile Thunderbolt 3 port. Otherwise, not too much has changed from the outgoing E5570 series.

Small and strong. Dell has created a significantly lighter chassis now that the aging E-Port is becoming a thing of the past. The lack of Thunderbolt 3, however, severely limits the docking capabilities of this latest Latitude redesign.

89% Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 Convertible Review: Totally Better Than The Latitude 9410 | Notebookcheck
We weren't thrilled that the 2020 Latitude 9410 2-in-1 was little more than a 2019 Latitude 7400 under a different name. This year's Latitude 9420 2-in-1 is what last year's model should have been in terms of features and design.
Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 Review: The top-end Dell business notebook struggles to deliver
Source: XDA Developers English
I always feel like the biggest Achilles’ Heel for the Latitude 9000 series is just that it exists. It uses to go up to the 7000 series until a couple of years ago. At that point, Dell said no, 7000 is not premium enough and we need a whole new tier just for how premium we want to get. So now, the only way to do this is to compare it to business laptop titans like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and the HP EliteBook x360 1040. Let’s be fair here. The Dell Latitude 9420 2-in-1 has an excellent 16:10 display, a solid keyboard, and narrow bezels. It also has a lot of great business features like ExpressSign-in, which wakes your PC and logs you in without you ever having to touch it. It’s also got a lot of flaws. It’s tough to compete with HP’s and Lenovo’s offerings, which have better keyboards and weigh less. And while none of the three machines have one, I’m still going to criticize the lack of a 1080p camera, especially because Dell is using FHD cameras across its Latitude 7000 lineup.

85% Dell Latitude 9420 Review: Pricey Performance
Source: The Verge English
I have very few complaints about this Latitude. Even things I usually complain about on laptops — the webcam and the audio — were pretty good here. The 9420 is a solid ThinkPad competitor, and easily one of the best business convertibles you can buy. It can accommodate photo and video work, and it can even run lighter games on the side. But, of course, there’s the price. Even the base model’s price tag will be out of reach for many people. As Dell’s and Intel’s representatives have noted, this laptop is really for folks who need both the vPro platform and the Evo platform — the best business features and the best consumer features in one product. If you are in that group, the Latitude 9420 is a solid package that asks very few compromises. It’s premium technology for a premium price.

Dell’s Latitude line is the answer to Lenovo’s ThinkPad business notebooks, some of the best laptops on the market. Latitudes aren’t much to look at, but they come packed with security features. There’s a proximity sensor that automatically locks and unlocks the screen. There’s a physical webcam shutter that moves on its own. There’s the Dell Optimizer program which (in theory) learns your behavior over time and tailors everything from audio quality to charging speed accordingly. Most significantly, the Latitude line supports Intel’s vPro, a hardware and firmware platform that includes a number of security features and makes it easier for IT departments to manage devices remotely.

Available either as a conventional clamshell or a 2-in-1 convertible, the Latitude 9420 is Dell's ultimate 14-inch business laptop. You'll pay a princely sum to own it, as evidenced by the sticker of our well-equipped review unit. In exchange, you get a sleek, compact machine with few drawbacks other than a smaller battery pack than its predecessor's.If you balk at the 9420's price, you'll want to consider the 2-in-1 version of Dell's Latitude 7420 instead. The clamshell version is our current top pick among premium business notebooks, and while its chassis is a bit more portly, it offers most of the same headlining features available on the flagship unit. Or, if you prioritize a 4K screen and typing comfort above all else in a business 2-in-1, the also excellent Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga is also worth close consideration.

90% Dell Latitude 9430 review: A top-tier 2-in-1 laptop with best-in-class battery life
Source: Laptop Mag English
If you’re looking for a premium 2-in-1 laptop that can handle all of your multimedia multitasking (whether you’re on or off the clock) and much more, the Dell Latitude 9430 might well be worth the investment. From an aesthetic standpoint, it shares several similarities with the similarly priced Dell Precision 9430, and similar specs as the HP Spectre x360 14 and Dell XPS 13 (OLED). When it comes to battery life, however, the Latitude 9430 puts most 14-inch convertibles to shame. There are plenty of cheaper 2-in-1 laptops and less-powerful Chromebooks on the market that’ll give you all-day endurance, but you get what you pay for, and Dell sweetens the deal with enterprise-level security features and a surprisingly capable sound system to boot. At the end of the day, the Dell Latitude 9430 is ideal for work and play, all the way.

Dell Latitude 9430 2-in-1 review: A solid business laptop
Source: XDA Developers English
The great part about the Dell Latitude 9430 2-in-1 is that it has an awesome webcam, great speakers, great microphones, and the combo of long battery life and optional 5G means it's perfect for taking on the go. It is a bit heavy for what it is though, so keep that in mind. If you need something lighter, check out the Latitude 7330 Ultralight.

We liked its 9420 predecessor and we like the Dell Latitude 9430 2-in-1 very much; enterprise IT managers will find it a highly capable, easily deployable option with attractive features ranging from its sunny screen to available 4G or 5G. The thing keeping it from Editors' Choice honors isn't its lack of an OLED screen, though that would be a nice status symbol. It's a high price tag—we know business laptops cost more than consumer models, but the Latitude's almost $3,000 while the OLED-screened Yoga 9i is under $2,000. Still, if your company can amortize that pain over three to five years, the Dell will reward you handsomely.

If the top-of-the-line Latitude 7330 isn't good enough for you, then the top top-of the line Latitude 9330 might be up your alley. The 9330 offers a roomier 16:10 form factor, thinner profile, and even more USB-C ports for improved docking capabilities.

100% Dell Latitude 9330 2-in-1 Convertible Review: Standard setting for a 2-in-1 device
Source: It Pro English
There's little doubt that as a thin-and-light laptop alone, the Dell 9330 is one of the best we've seen for a while in its own right. As a 2-in-1, it's certainly slick, and the form factor, coupled with the lightweight chassis makes it more usable as a tablet, but if you were hoping that it would finally be on par for usability with even the original Google Pixelbook, then we're sorry, but we're still not quite there yet. To say that feels like damning it with faint praise, however, because the Dell 9330 is a delight and ticks almost every box you could dream of. We'd love to have seen a dedicated graphics card, but pragmatically speaking, that would probably have changed the dimensions of the device and the onboard Iris X performance is still more than adequate for all but the most dedicated gamer or CAD user. Overall, we're nitpicking because this is a fabulous device that, given its specification and the relative stagnation in technology, is likely to give years of service without ageing. That is, however, very much reflected in its pricing which puts it out of reach for all but businesses and the extremely deep-pocketed. But if you choose to take the plunge - you'll get what you pay for and more. It's a fine machine.

Source: Digital Trends English
The Latitude 9330 would make for a solid mainstream convertible 2-in-1 option if only it were less expensive. It’s well-built, fast enough, and has an excellent display, although its battery life is slightly subpar. But it’s too expensive for anyone but business executives with large IT budgets. The thing is, it’s easy to recommend for just those users, offering some business-specific features that help justify that price. For everyone else, there are better options available.

The Latitude 9330 2-in-1 comes very close to earning an Editors' Choice award among business convertible laptops, though its ultraportable form factor and emphasis on videoconferencing aims it at frequent fliers and flex workers rather than office-bound executives. We're reserving the honor because we'd like to see more than one screen option, and it's a little short on ports—we strongly prefer native HDMI ports to USB-C dongles for connecting a monitor, and an Ethernet port would be nice for Dell's ingenious wired/wireless network aggregation. But staffers whose companies deploy the 9330 will be pleased with their choice.

Whether it's rain, snow, sleet, or gloom of night, the Dell Latitude 7230 Rugged Extreme Tablet is ready to work, even if you drag it through the worst environments along the way. Its design is top-notch, delivering a mix of usability and rugged armor that's better than most, from its ultra-bright display to its sturdy handle and chunky bumpers. Its performance is a bit of a letdown; it's a capable PC but not the fastest nor the most powerful among its peers. But if raw performance isn't your priority, the Dell can be configured with so many different ports and options that it's a cinch to meet your on-site demands, with a hot-swappable dual-battery design that keeps it going all day long. It narrowly misses an Editors' Choice win, but the 7230 is a fine choice for work where laptops fear to tread.

Dell is not exactly an obscure name when it comes to business devices. The firm has long been associated with professional desktops and laptops, and to this day most would see a Dell laptop as a decidedly corporate offering. The Latitude line is specifically aimed at enterprises, so one would expect to find within it the very best Dell has to offer; thankfully, these expectations are not misplaced.

We find plenty to like about the Dell Latitude 9440 2-in-1 in laptop mode. The display is first-rate, delivering excellent color and brightness, and the keyboard is a huge win as well, with a frameless design and an enormous touchpad with one-touch Zoom controls. Its battery life is also near the top of our charts. But in tablet mode, the 9440 shows its faults, with a hard-edged palm rest and a bit of extra heft. Dell's simplified port selection is fine if you already have a collection of adapters or a docking station, but maddening if you just want to plug in an HDMI monitor. And except for battery life, the convertible fails to show a major performance boost from Intel's 13th Gen hardware versus the equivalent 12th Gen Core i7 chip we tested in the Latitude 9430 last year. That's not enough to keep the Latitude from an excellent score, but it does keep it from Editors' Choice honors.

Dell Latitude 9440 Review: 14-Inch 2-In-1 Laptop Superiority
Source: Hot Hardware English
Over the years, I've personally only coveted a few laptop models and brands, because I have very particular tastes when it comes to this type of device. My needs are basically productivity and web tasks, along with some light content creation when I'm on the road for business. I prefer the 14-inch notebook format, becuase for me it's a perfect balance of petite size with ample screen real estate. I also prefer 1600p resolution,16:10 format displays, so yes, Dell hit my sweet spot here. That said, Dell also built a well-balance, super premium machine with the Latitude 9440 and I like it so much, I'd easily consider this a "daily driver" candidate. At $2,789 as configured here (Starting $1,919), the Dell Latitude 9440 2-in-1 isn't cheap, but all told pricing is competitive with other high-performance, premium devices in this class.

There’s no denying that the Dell Latitude 9440 is a solid 2-in-1 laptop that offers powerful performance backed up by a gorgeous display, alongside a sturdy aluminum chassis and strong hinge that makes it feel like a truly premium product. But its $3,000+ price point is excessive when considering its bizarre keyboard design, awkward trackpad, less-than-great battery life and underwhelming SSD speeds. If you’re looking for a less costly business laptop with great performance and a solid display, we recommend the Asus ExpertBook B9450. 12.00:

This range of display format is largely the upper limit for tablets and the lower limit for subnotebooks.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small in size and therefore easily portable. The tiny display has the added advantage of requiring little power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is exhausting for the eyes. High resolutions, which one is used to from a standard laptop, are almost not usable.

The same applies to tablets in this size range.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

79.83%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
