Dell Latitude 6430u

Being one of the biggest laptop manufacturers in the world, Dell produces one of the biggest selling business laptop series. Dell’s business laptop series now comes in an ultrabook form. The Dell Latitude 6430U is available in various configurations. It cannot only be purchased with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7, but consumers can also customize other hardware according to their preferences. This ultrabook offers a 14-inch wide screen laptop and weighs only about 1.7 kg. So, it is lightweight enough to be taken anywhere to support your work or task. Hence it is suitable for those who need high flexibility and portability. It also provides something different, namely the existence of a super-fast Wi-Fi connection hardware which has set it apart from its competitors. And for battery life, Dell claims that this classy and elegant ultrabook can last up to 10 hours of normal use throughout the day.

Speaking of performance, Windows 8 apps can run very well on this laptop. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have such disadvantages in the absence of touchscreen feature. Without touchscreen display, you won’t be able to enjoy full Windows 8 experience. On the other hand, being equipped with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels could well prove to be a deal breaker. Considering the fact that other laptop manufacturers have been fitting full-HD displays to their products, the low resolution is really a huge downside to this laptop. However, Dell's Latitude 6430u is still a great performing ultrabook. If you’re looking for a premium ultrabook for business use, then you should seriously consider this ultrabook.

Slimmed down business. As the only Ultrabook thus far to satisfy a multitude of standardized military reliability tests, the build quality of the 6430u is sure to meet the needs of practically every business user out there. Though powerful on the outside, is its internal performance up to par?
60% Dell Latitude 6430u Ultrabook review

The Dell Latitude 6430u is an impressive entry into Dell's business lineup. It proves that within the boundaries of the Ultrabook classification, there is the option to include extra connectivity and a removable battery, which are both features that are useful in a business setting. If there is a problem, it's to be found with the lack of a touch-sensitive display and sub-par screen resolution. Other than these issues, there's a great amount of versatility here, helped with Dell's customisable specification options when assembling your order. One word of caution though: expect to spend a hefty amount of change to get what we'd call a decent level of performance.

If there’s one disappointment, it’s the 14in screen. We like the matte anti-glare finish, and the resolution of 1,600 x 900 is enough to make the panel feel pin-sharp. The brightness level of 344cd/m2 is good, too, and ensures the panel will remain legible under bright office lights. The big problem, though, is poor image quality.

Dell Latitude 6430U Review
Source: Ultrabook News English Archive.org version
The Dell Latitude 6430U is a workhorse that, during our testing, was noticeably more productive than other Ultrabooks. It felt strong and well-built both on the outside and on the inside although that ruggedness means a small extra weight over some other 14″ options. As a typing/reporting tool and for our basic video editing requirements it’s been the best Ultrabook we’ve ever tested, and that includes the Lenovo X1 Carbon although that Ultrabook has the edge on portability. The 6430U isn’t the most stylish and doesn’t come with the fun and sometimes productive touchscreen but Dell offers many other options so non-business users without a touch requirement will find probably find a variant that will satisfy their needs. The Dell 6430U isn’t cheap but it’s honestly priced and is an Ultrabook that’s likely to serve well and prove its worth over a number of years.

Dell Latitude 6430U First Impressions. Solid, Productive, Possibly the Ultrabook I Should Buy
Source: Ultrabook News English Archive.org version
As a working laptop and desktop I can see a lot of companies going for the 6430u without a doubt. For individuals there’s the question of touch which I know can add some fun after-hours. If you are looking for something more 24/7 then maybe the Lenovo Yoga 13 is the answer for you.

80% Dell Latitude 6430u review - high-quality Ultrabook built for business
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
I rarely get this enthusiastic over a corporate product of any sort, but I'm a sucker for products that are tactilely and ergonomically superior. The Latitude 6430u is expensive, but most truly superb things are. Even consumers should seriously consider this ultrabook, since the entry-level configuration is more than adequate for most purposes, and the three-year warranty makes a big-box store's extended warranty unnecessary.

Overall, with the Latitude 6430u Dell delivers a solid-feeling, IT-friendly laptop that's a pleasure to use. We only wish there were an option for a 1080p IPS panel for better viewing angles and more screen real estate for multitasking. Dell recently upgraded its admirable 13.3-inch XPS 13$1,446.99 at TheNerds.net ultrabook to 1080p; it would seem sensible to take that step for the 6430u as well.

Dell has produced a good business Ultrabook, but it could have been great: a better quality display would make this a high-end business laptop to be reckoned with. At this price, however, the Latitude 6430u retains an obvious appeal. With sturdy build quality backed by a three-year, next-business-day warranty, excellent ergonomics and nippy performance, this unflashy Ultrabook is as good as it gets for less than £1,000.

The Dell Latitude 6430u is a great choice for those who want productivity for work without having to settle for a drab business-as-usual ultrabook. It comes with an external optical drive, sports an excellent keyboard, and boasts terrific battery life. While the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is still a superb business ultrabook that weighs a pound less, the Latitude 6430u's extra features justify its additional bulk, and it consequently snatches the crown by virtue of its larger port selection, removable battery, and inclusion of an HDMI output, It's a very close call, but at the end of the day the Latitude 6430u rightfully earns our Editors' Choice for business ultrabooks.

Dell Latitude 6430u HD+

The business ultrabook niche is currently one of the hotly contested markets in the notebook scene. Different brands try to outdo each other on thin portable profiles and long battery life, the hallmarks of a great business ultrabooks. The Dell Latitude 6430u HD+ attempts to best its competitors with unique features like the HD+ screen (1600x900) and a WiGig wireless dock. The WiGig is a wireless dock that features several USB 3.0 ports and a few other inputs that are commonly used. Hailed as the wave of the future, this device reduces cable clutter and makes networking devices and peripherals a breeze.

With its small and stylish black and silver frame, and light weight – this Ultrabook is pleasing to the eye, and is easily portable. The 14 inch HD+ screen makes viewing video or other media a delight. The Dell Latitude 6430u HD+ comes equipped with Windows 7 for better business productivity. Performance is not the best it could be, but it should suffice for most work tasks. The keyboard is backlit, a plus for those who find themselves occasionally having to work in low light conditions. The chiclet keys are pleasant to use, and touchpad and pointing stick are responsive. Compared to other similar models, the Dell Latitude 6430u HD+ is priced higher, possibly due to the HD+ resolution. The Dell Latitude 6430u HD+ would seem to be a decent enough offering, but other than the WiGig dock and the HD+ screen, there seem to be few reasons to choose this machine over its competitors.

14.00:

14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.

In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

77.43%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
