Norman Reedus just sent the gaming world into a frenzy with six words.
In an interview with Leo, a style magazine for men, Norman Reedus essentially confirmed that work has begun on a sequel to 2019's Death Stranding. Reedus, who starred as the game's protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, was asked about projects he was currently working on. When his role in Death Stranding was mentioned, Reedus stated, "We just started the second one."
Reedus confirmed that a sequel is indeed in the works later in the interview. Remembering his time working on the original title, Reedus said:
It took me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.
There are currently no other details about the game (or even Reedus's role in it), and the interviewer didn't press for more information.
Death Stranding was released in 2019 by Kojima Productions. It routinely made headlines during its development due to the close collaboration between Reedus, actor Mads Mikkelsen, and game designer Hideo Kojima.
Reedus was originally cast by Kojima for a new Silent Hill game, then known as Silent Hills P.T. That game never saw the light of day, but Kojima and Reedus continued to work together to produce Death Stranding, which is known for its complex and convoluted plotline and game world (a staple of Kojima games).
Time will tell if its sequel takes place in the same detailed world fleshed out in the 2019 original. Knowing Kojima, we're in for quite a few twists and turns.
