CyanoGen mode for Android 4.0.3 brings in cool enhancements

Teaser
The Trebuchet is on its way for the CyanogenMod 9, while an early alpha build is released for Android 4.0.3 devices

The latest upcoming feature of Android distribution based on Ice Cream Sandwich is one of the most anticipated features of CyanogenMod 9. It is the new home screen launcher, the ‘Trebuchet’. This feature mostly expands upon what’s offered in stock Android with a host of new settings and features which includes the ability to customize the number of home screens and even killing of the persistent search bar.

The Trebuchet has now been already rolled out as an initial alpha builds, with which early adopters can test out Trebuchet before it’s released in CyanogenMod 9 next year. To install the Alpha version of Trebuchet one need a rooted Android 4.0.3 device, along with some command line skills.

However this required specification is currently available in only one device and that is GSM Nexus S which officially has Android 4.0.3. Apart from this device the Samsung Galaxy Nexus can run 4.0.3 code built from the Android Open Source Project.

The current Trebuchet alpha seems to have included just about half of the planned feature set which includes the functionality like infinite scrolling, while the transition effect is yet to be implemented.
