Cortana coming to Cyanogen OS

Teaser
Cyanogen OS will have full integration of Microsoft's voice assistant.

Cyanogen has announced that it will be integrating Microsoft's Cortana into the Cyanogen mobile operating system. Cortana is the voice assistant that Microsoft introduced with Windows 10 and Windows Phones last year to take on competition like Siri and Google Now. For those running Cyanogen OS, the integration is expected to be available in the next generation of the operating system.

The company has also said that it is working with Microsoft give users access to popular Microsoft services through the OS, and it seems as though Cortana is the next step of this partnership. While the voice assistant will help the devices running the operating system be more fully-featured, the ability of Cortana to control content of applications could help separate the OnePlus One and other Cyanogen devices from Android smartphones.

The partnership between the two companies was great for Cyanogen, helping bring Microsoft Office, OneDrive, and Skype over to the platform. The decision to partner is an interesting one, but it seems that it helps both Microsoft to increase the number of people using its services and also Cyanogen by helping phones running the OS to stand out.
