Reviews for the Clevo W550EU

Mythlogic Callisto 1512
Source: AnandTech English
With the Callisto 1512, Mythlogic has essentially done the best they can with what they've been given by Clevo. The W550EU offers plenty of options for boutiques, but if you'll pardon my expression, Mythlogic basically cut out the crappy ones. Nobody wants a low resolution panel or a low capacity battery, so Mythlogic simply doesn't offer them.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Processor graphics card in the high end Ivy Bridge models. Offers a different clock speed in the different CPU models (ULV to desktop quad core) and therefore a different performance.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

3635QM: An Ivy Bridge-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.4 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4000 GPU running at 650-1200 MHz on a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15.6": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. However nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.2 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.

Clevo: Founded in 1983, CLEVO is an important Taiwanese notebook computer manufacturer for distributors and OEM/ODM partners (barebone production). Service centers exist in  in USA, Germany, Britain, China, and Taiwan. Clevo laptops are rarely sold directly to consumers. Therefore scarcely any reviews for Clevo laptops exist as these are branded with other names.
