Best Buy now accepting pre-orders for Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire product page now on bestbuy.com with in-store pre-ordering only

While it was no surprise that Amazon was gearing up for its own Android tablet, the launch price may have been what caught most users off guard. At only $200, the Kindle Fire is one of the least expensive tablets around with specs more reserved for mid-range tablets. Now, in addition to Amazon.com, Best Buy has begun accepting pre-orders of the new Amazon tablet with Staples possibly not far behind.

Unfortunately, Best Buy is currently only allowing pre-orders to be made in-store, so online options are a moot. Still, the official product page is up and reveals the tablet as model B0051VVO5S. We can only assume that this tablet is the exact same model being offered by Amazon and not an unknown variant.

As mentioned by Laptoping, significant sales of the Amazon tablet in Best Buy stores would be a great boon to the retailer but at the same time a detriment to other tablets that the Kindle Fire will be sharing shelf space with. The HTC Flyer, RIM PlayBook and iPad 2 are all at least $100 more. Buyers interested in tablets for its e-reading features should be more than satisfied with what the Kindle Fire can offer.

The Amazon tablet officially ships this November 15th in the U.S. and has already amassed over 100,000 pre-orders since its announcement on September 28th.
