BQ RU BQ-5201 SPACE

With Android manufacturers constantly pumping out new devices it isn’t surprising to hear of unknown brands. One of them being BQ with their BQ-5201 SPACE. It should be noted that not all Android manufacturers will necessarily aim for the flagship market when most of the sales are actually from the budget or mid-tier markets. So, what are the pros and cons of the BQ-5201 SPACE? The BQ-5201 SPACE is powered by a Mediatek MT6753 SoC, which is mainly found in Chinese smartphones, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and a 5.2-inch 720p IPS screen. Just looking at the rough specs one can see that the BQ-5201 SPACE has more or less targeted the mid-tier market. The chassis of the BQ-5201 SPACE looks pretty much like your average rectangular bar with rounded edges but it has some flair to its design. The BQ-5201 SPACE uses a mix of both plastic and metal, which is about right for the market segment. The included IPS LCD display has a HD resolution. This may not be impressive but is more than sufficient for a pleasant viewing experience. The display remains reasonably bright with colors looking natural and vibrant even if looked at closely. The BQ-5201 SPACE touch screen remains quite accurate when typing text and is able to support up to 5 simultaneous touches. As for software and interfaces the BQ-5201 SPACE is pretty much as stock as in can get with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. Bloatware remains inexistent, which is good since it can slow down this device significantly. Despite being marketed as a mid-tier device with its current specs it feels flagship-like since the novelty here is its 8-core processor. Obviously as a smartphone one should also talk about its camera, the BQ-5201 SPACE has a 13 MP front camera and a 16 MP rear camera installed. However, its flash is somewhat lacking since most mid-tier phones these days have a dual tone flash, which can help with picture quality. Nonetheless the picture quality is satisfactory, yet not impressive. One notable point about this phone is its reasonably large 4000 mAh battery, which is plenty to get by in a day without charging even on heavy use. It is quite interesting that, even though not many companies compete on the Android flagship segment, it is always nice to see what offerings are there lower down in the stack. BQ RU BQ-5510 Strike Power Max 4G

The BQ-5510 Strike Power Max 4G is a large and affordable smartphone with a huge battery. In addition to the attractive price, the smartphone received a huge battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, a large bright 5.5-inch IPS display, a fingerprint sensor and Android 7.0. It is made of plastic with metal inserts, giving the device a strict and solid look. The design of the novelty resembles other recent models of the manufacturer, including flagship ones. From this, the Max 4G only wins. It definitely looks more expensive than its price.Weight and thickness are impressive. Despite being a smartphone with a 5000 mAh battery, the BQ-5510 only weighs 198 grams. The smartphone has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. A low resolution consumes less battery life, requires fewer CPU resources and allows lowering the price. It is a quality IPS panel with a high maximum brightness. The Max 4G can be used outdoors in direct sunlight and the information on the screen remains readable. The viewing angles are also excellent, the picture does not fade even when viewed at an extreme angle. The display is flat, without the popular 2.5D rounding. However, it is more difficult to break, which is an advantage. In contrast, almost any fall becomes fatal for a convex glass. The smartphone received a 13 MP main module and a front camera of 8 MP. The camera is enough to take a picture of the landscape, a group of friends or a document. The BQ Strike Power Max 4G gives nice photos in the daytime and at night a bright LED flash comes to the rescue. The camera app offers additional modes and settings including manual mode for setting ISO, shutter speed, exposure, and white balance manually. The 8 MP front camera makes bright and clear photos, which are not a shame to share on Instagram. The BQ Strike Power Max 4G features an very large battery of 5000 mAh. Given the not too greedy stuffing of the Max 4G, such a battery gives an outstanding autonomy. Even with the most active use of social networks and the Internet, the device lives for two days. And less active owners will get three or even four days. Inside the smartphone, there is a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of storage. Of course, the storage capacity can be expanded with a memory card. The hardware is not the limit of dreams, but is is sufficient for all main tasks. The BQ-4072 Strike Mini is a smartphone for those who value freedom and are accustomed to traveling light, without taking up space in a bag or jeans pocket with large tablets. It is a good option if a user is looking for an inexpensive smartphone with compact dimensions and a basic set of characteristics. The phone is equipped with a compact and at the same time comfortable in everyday use, a four-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixel. There are five different color variations: silver, blue, gold, gray and pink. The large area of ​​the chassis is made of metal. Also, the metal looks interesting under sunlight and light. The overall dimensions of the smartphone are 126.8 x 66 x 11.5 mm with a weight of 128 grams. The sides of the smartphone are all rounded giving it a more comfortable holding feel. The BQ-4072 Strike Mini has a 4-inch display, something that we haven’t seen since the iPhone 5. This is a TFT TN matrix. Viewing angles are limited due to the small screen. As the brightness is low, it is not an ideal display for use under direct sunlight. There are enough details for such a diagonal, individual pixels are visible only on close examination. The touch layer recognizes two simultaneous touches. Under the hood, the BQ-4072 Strike Mini is based on the Spreadtrum SC7731 platform with Mali-400MP2 graphics, four cores Cortex A7 with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. For a long time, the models of this price segment had only 512 MB of RAM, which created problems with the installation of software in everyday use. Even basic apps like facebook, whatsapp and twitter need more than the 512 MB RAM to operate smoothly. The performance level is not a record, but sufficient for the operation of essential applications such as the browser and simple games. The smartphone features two cameras with a resolution of 5 MP and 2 MP with autofocus. The camera application offers several additional shooting modes and manual settings. As for software, the smartphone has Google Android 7.0 operating system installed, which is commendable. The desktop has shortcuts to affiliate programs and games, they do not occupy the internal memory and can be deleted without getting root access. Another downside of the smartphone is that it only works on 3G networks. However, a user can plug in two SIM-cards with one radio module. Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz connection are stable. The battery capacity of the BQ-4072 Strike Mini is modest at only 1500 mAh. An additional charge session will be required during the day if a user uses it heavily across the day. For the price of the BQ-4072 Strike Mini one truly cannot expect more but the question is, does someone really need a smartphone with these kind of configuration? The BQ Mobile Space X (BQ-5700L) smartphone was released in late 2017. The BQ-5700L Space X took the position of the flagship in its models line and is aimed at users who put increased demands on all these parameters. In addition, it claims a long battery life, a 20-megapixel front camera with an additional 8-megapixel module, a phase detection autofocus, a fingerprint scanner for unlocking, support for Face Unlock technology, and a vibrant display. The BQ BQ-5700L Space X picked up a trend with an extended display and reduced frames around it. Following expensive brand smartphones, this technology has become available in a more reasonable price segment. The design of the smartphone looks premium. It features a metal case. The outer surface is matte and not susceptible to smudging with fingerprints and does not slip out of the hands. The bottom row of touch buttons is moved to the interface. The upper and lower frame is narrow and the screen occupies almost the entire area of ​​the front panel, following the 2017 smartphone trend. The bottom houses the speaker grille and a micro USB connector, as well as the main microphone. There is an additional microphone for noise reduction in the main camera area. At the top end is an audio jack for headphones. As for the camera, there is one with a resolution of 16 megapixels and the second with a resolution of 20+8 megapixels. The front camera with 20 + 8 MP sensor supports background blur and face decoration. This approach is justified, given that very often a smartphone is used for self-portraits and the user is forced to use a camera with lower image quality. The 16 MP main camera works without any complaints. In daylight and at a sufficient level of illumination, phase autofocus works quickly. For hardware specification, it is powered by a rather low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 with eight cores Cortex A-53, Adreno 505 graphics processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded by up to 256 GB with a microSD card. Performance is sufficient for games with medium graphics applications. Just don’t expect this phone to handle all those graphic-hungry games properly. For display, a matrix with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 is established. It is an S-IPS matrix with a diagonal of 5.7 inch. The screen quality is excellent. It can be used for various groups of tasks, including reading and games. The illumination is uniform throughout the area, adaptive adjustment is supported. The touch layer recognizes up to 5 simultaneous touches. A battery with a capacity of 3.000 mAh makes autonomous work possible. It guarantees a whole working day of active operation. It lasts about 4.5 - 5 hours in games, 6 hours in movie playback. Unfortunately, fast charging is not supported. The BQ Mobile Space X is an affordable smartphone with all the latest features one would expect in a 2017 phone.
