I have seen several excellent small screen notebooks recently and this certainly does not buck the trend. 10.6inch screen but apart from that everything a bigger cousin might have. On removing it from the box the first thing you notice is the purple or crimson lid, regular readers will know I am not a fashion guru but I liked it. The keyboard and surrounds are a near white cream colour, perhaps a little bright after a heavy night but other than that quite pleasant. I exceeded to battery life claim of four hours in normal usage, albeit by only a few minutes, this included some substantial time on Internet connection and as it was doing the interminable Norton updates and disc scan this was more than satisfactory.

Intel Extreme Graphics 2: Intel Extreme Graphics 2 is an integrated (onboard) graphic chip with shared memory on Intel 852 / 855 GM, GME, GMV chipset for Centrino, Pentium 4 and Celeron based laptops. It is hardly suited for 3D-games. No Aero support.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

Intel Pentium M: With Intel chip set (855 or 915) and Intel WLAN also available with the name Centrino (name for the package).
In the comparison very fast per megahertz and very modest with weaknesses in floating point operations.
It is also available as a low voltage version with very small current consumption.

This range of display format is largely the upper limit for tablets and the lower limit for subnotebooks.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small in size and therefore easily portable. The tiny display has the added advantage of requiring little power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is exhausting for the eyes. High resolutions, which one is used to from a standard laptop, are almost not usable.
The same applies to tablets in this size range.

Founded in 1984 as Sotec, it promoted low-cost PCs manufactured in Taiwan. In the early 2000s the company renamed itself as Averatec. They have operations in North America, Europe, Taiwan and South Korea. Their systems are produced in China and Korea. Some laptops are rebranded from other companies. In 2008, Averatec became a label of TriGem, a Korean company. Averatec is a small international manufacturer with low global market share. Notebook models of Averatec rarely have been reviewed in the German- and English speaking countries.
81.25%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
