Asus launches the high-performance K93SM notebook in Europe
The Taiwan-based PC manufacturer Asus has reportedly just introduced a new powerful laptop, called K93SM, to customers on the Old Continent. This device is the latest addition to the company’s K Series and has a retail price of €849 to €1,149, depending on the configuration you choose.
Asus has issued a press release, officially announcing the availability of the K93SM model in Europe, which apparently packs up to a second generation Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7-2670QM central processing unit that incorporates four cores with a clock frequency of 2.2GHz and the Intel GMA HD 3000 video card (there is also a Core i5-2450M option).
Weighing 4.1kg, this high-performance laptop offers a Full HD (1920-by-1080 pixels) LED-backlit Glare type widescreen display that measures 18.4-inch in diagonal. Furthermore, users can take advantage of the integrated Blu-ray Combo optical drive.
Built around an Intel HM65 Express Chipset, the K93SM houses up to 8GB of internal DDR3 memory, a 1TB mechanical HDD (5400RPM) and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M GPU (1GB VRAM) based on the 40nm Fermi architecture.
Other features reportedly include a Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n adapter, an HDMI output, one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports accompanied by two built-in stereo speakers, a 3-in-1 memory card reader slot and a 5.200mAh battery (no word on battery life, though).
According to the manufacturer, the Asus K93SM model will ship with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) operating system.
