IFA 2013 | Asus announces the MeMO Pad 8 and 10

Teaser
These two budget tablets are expected to launch before the end of the year

Asus has been near the top of the tablet market for a while now, due in no small part to its partnership with Google on the Nexus 7 (both versions). Of course that hasn't stopped the Taiwanese company from launching a number of devices under its own branding including two new MeMO Pad tablets - 8 and 10.

Both the 8-inch and 10-inch models feature a 1280 x 800 IPS display, an unspecified 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, Asus SonicMaster audio, and a microSD slot. The smaller model also has a 5 MP back-facing camera and 8 GB of internal storage, while the larger tablet has a 2 MP back-facing camera and either 8 or 16 GB of internal storage. As with most recent Android devices, the battery life on both tablets is decent, with Asus claiming 9 hours of regular use for the 8-inch and 9.5 for the 10-inch.

Though certainly not terrible at first glance, neither of these tablets has any features that make them stand out from the competition. When it comes down to it though, the budget tablet market is ultimately ruled by price, so if Asus is able to keep the pricetag low enough, the new MeMO Pads may yet be popular.

The MeMO Pad 8 and 10 are expected to launch before the end of the year. Prices have not yet been announced.
