Asus announces new VivoBook S15 and ZenBook UX430 notebooks with Intel's gen 8 ULV CPUs

The new VivoBook S15 comes with a 15.6-inch display that can be either HD or FHD, while the ZenBook UX430 features a 14-inch FHD IPS-grade display. Both models are powered by Intel's gen 8 ULV CPUs and Nvidia's MX150 GPU. Asus will launch the new VivoBook S15 on October 1 for ~US$900 in India at first. The ZenBook UX430 can already be ordered for ~US$1150.

The Indian IT&C market has grown to be one of the biggest in the world in recent years. The big Taiwanese companies like Asus took note of this development and started releasing specific products for the Indian market. The latest notebooks to come from Asus for the Indian market are the VivoBook S15 and the ZenBook UX430 that are powered by Intel’s latest ultra-low voltage CPUs.

The new VivoBook S15 models can be powered by Intel's gen 8 Core i5-8250U and i7-8550U CPUs, but options may include the older gen 7 CPUs, all of which can be coupled with up to 16 GB DDR4-2133 RAM. Asus also upgraded the GPU solution with the MX150 2 GB GDDR5 from Nvidia, for light gaming. Other features include:
•    15.6-inch 1920x1080 or 1366x768 displays
•    Up to 2 TB 5400 RPM HDD and up to 512 GB M.2 SSD
•    optional backlit keyboard and touchpad with fingerprint sensor
•    VGA webcam
•    Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.1
•    2W stereo speakers
•    Multi-format card reader
•    mic/headphone jack
•    1 x Type-C USB 3.1 GEN1 port, 1 x USB 3.0 port, 2 x USB 2.0 ports
•    1 x HDMI connector
•    42 Wh 3-cell battery that can last up to 8 hours
•    0.7-inch thickness and 3.3-pound weight

Asus added gen 8 ULV CPU options and the MX150 GPU to the ZenBook UX430 models, as well. These can include up to 16 GB DDR4-2133 RAM, but the storage options are limited to SSDs up to 512 GB. The 14-inch display is an IPS-grade 1080p variant. Other notable features include:
•    Backlit keyboard and touchpad with fingerprint sensor
•    SonicMaster audio system with Harman Kardon certificate
•    HD webcam
•    SD card reader
•    1 x Type-C USB 3.1 Gen 1connector, 1 x Type-A USB 3.1 Gen1 connector, 1 x USB 2.0
•    Micro HDMI interface
•    mic/headphone jack
•    50Wh 3-cell battery that can last up to 9 hours
•    0.63-inch thickness and 2.76-pound weight

The VivoBook S15 prices start at ~US$900 for the new Intel gen 8 CPUs, and these will be available in India on October 1st. The Intel gen 8 CPU versions for the ZenBook UX430 are already available for as low as ~US$1150. Similar models are expected to be released for the other regions at a later date.
