Asus has announced the immediate availability of its touch enabled VivoBook S500. Available in a variety of configurations pricing starts at $699.

Two older members of the touch enabled VivoBook family scored quite well in their reviews late last year. Asus’ 11.6-inch S200 and 14-inch S400 scored 82% and 85% respectively. New to the family is the 15.6-inch VivoBook S500, immediately available in North America in various configurations starting from $699.

Asus have given this notebook a brushed aluminum finish, a large touchpad and stereo speakers with the company’s own SonicMaster technology. The rounded edges of the design are apparently “inspired by book binding and spines” in an effort to make the VivoBook feel natural to hold.

As for the hardware specs, they include a 1366x768 LED glass-panel display, Ivy Bridge CPU, up to 6 GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM and touchscreen capabilities for a weight of 4.6 pounds. Asus is also throwing in 32 GB of free web storage for 3 years. Storage options vary, however processor choices include Intel’s Core i3-2365M, i3-3217U, i5-3317U, and i7-3517U.
