Reviews for the Asus Strix GL502VS-FY032T

84.7% Asus ROG Strix GL502VS Notebook Review | Notebookcheck
Let the games begin. Asus sent us one of the first 15-inch notebooks with the extremely fast Pascal GPU GeForce GTX 1070. The informed reader expects big performance gains and is not disappointed. The manufacturer focuses on continuity for the other aspects of the system, which is usually the correct decision.
80% Asus ROG Strix GL502VS Gaming Laptop Review- Big, Bold, Amazingly Fast
Source: Tech Magnifier English Archive.org version
All those who want a portable gaming beast with best set of specifications crammed in a rugged design, ASUS ROG Strix 502VS is the machine you’re looking for. Although everything is packed neatly inside the laptop, there are a couple of factors to take into consideration before making the final choice. The machine is undoubtedly a beast, it has the best package of specifications any top class gaming laptop wish to offer, the hyper cool duo system is one of the best of all times, but it’s noisy during gameplay, battery life may disappoint you and the design isn’t very creative. So, if the mentioned points don’t bother you too much and it’s the performance that ultimately matter to you the most, go for Asus ROG Strix 502VS.

Another very good gaming laptop, for gamers. It does not come with optical drive, you will either need to install games from external source or download from the net. All these gaming laptops do come for a price.

The ASUS ROG Strix GL502VS Review: Mainstream GTX 1070 with G-SYNC
Source: AnandTech English Archive.org version
ASUS has built a powerful gaming system, with all the latest technology inside. The Core i7-6700HQ is well known, and very capable. There will likely be a Kaby Lake update for quad-core processors soon, and we’ll see how they compare, but for now this is a capable CPU for a portable computer. The NVIDIA GTX 1070 is a very large step up from the GTX 970M, with performance that is right in-line with two GTX 980M cards in SLI. We’ve been waiting for FinFET for years on the GPU side, and it has paid off. In addition, it has up to 8 GB of GDDR5, and if you are interested in this notebook be very sure you are getting the 8 GB model since games like Rise of the Tomb Raider already use more the 4 GB on maximum settings.

ASUS ROG Strix GL502 gaming notebook preview: Orange is the new black
Source: Hardware Zone English Archive.org version
We’d argue that NVIDIA’s new mobile Pascal GPUs add a ton of value to any purchase of a gaming laptop. Before, we were always disinclined to recommend gaming laptops to serious gamers looking for the best bang for their buck, because a desktop would always be far faster and cost less. But now that the Pascal cards are offering performance on a similar level as previous generation flagship desktop cards – or even rivaling their desktop equivalents – buying a gaming laptop like the ROG Strix GL502 has never looked as enticing as now.

Comment

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: Pascal based high-end mobile graphics card based on a cut down GP104 (like the GTX 1080) and GDDR5 graphics memory. Successor to the GTX 980M with a 10 Watts higher TDP. Similar to the desktop GTX 1070 performance wise, but with more shaders and lower clock speeds.

With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

15.60":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.6 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.

81.57%: This rating is slightly above average, there are somewhat more devices with worse ratings. However, clear purchase recommendations look different.
