Newly unveiled Sirocco turns out to be nothing more than an Eee PC 1015PEM with a different paint job

A recent teaser released by the Taiwanese Giant Asus had the cyber world abuzz. Rumors ranged from a new battery to a new processor or design. However, after the dust settled and the specs leaked it turned out that the new Netbook was nothing more than a different colored Eee PC 1015PEM.

The 1015PEM which includes a 10.1-inch display and an Intel N550 dual-core processor retails for under $400 on Amazon.com. However, pricing and availability has not been released for the Sirocco and it is not yet known if the new texture will affect the pricing significantly.

While the Sirocco didn’t turn out to be the bombshell everyone expected, there’s always a niche market for funky colored netbooks.
