The ASUS M50Sv-B1 is a very strong all around thin and light notebook that performs extremely well with multimedia and 3D graphics. The downside to this is that the ASUS is a bit larger than the average thin and light notebook and also has less than average battery life.

If you're after a portable laptop, but don't want to compromise on processing power, then the Asus M50SV-AS030G is the machine for you. Equipped with one of Intel's newest Penryn chips, the Asus M50SV-AS030G has a whopping 4GB of RAM - ensuring high performance despite its portable credentials. The Asus M50SV-AS030G is blazingly fast for a portable machine and Asus has mostly employed high spec components, but it can't always make the most of them. With an asking price of £1,149 it's a little on the high side, but it's not exorbitant when you look at what you're getting for your money.

That doesn't mean the M50SV is a poor machine, though. If you need a laptop for mostly 2D applications, it's the most powerful machine we've ever seen, and manages to combine this with a good deal of style at a reasonable price. Add the luxury of Windows Vista Ultimate, and it's an extremely attractive system. A blisteringly fast processor, strong build and stylish design make this an extremely attractive laptop.

NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS: Middle class GPU that ist about 10% faster than a similar clocked GeForce 8600M GT graphics adapter. Therefore, the card does not deliver enough performance for very high details with DirectX 10 effects of demanding games like Crysis.
These cards should be able to display all current games with fluent framerates but not all with high detail settings. Especially demanding games like Crysis, Age of Conan, or Mass Effect are only playable with lower settings. Less demanding (and older) games, like Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, or Battlefield 2142 can be played with higher detail levels.

Intel Core 2 Duo: This is the Core Duo and Core Solo successor with a longer pipeline and 5-20% more speed without more power consumption. As an addition to the Core Duo design there exists a fourth decoder, an amplified SSE-unit and an additional arithmetical logical unit (ALU).
The Core 2 Duo for laptops is identical to the desktop Core 2 Duo processors but the notebook-processors work with lower voltages (0.95 to 1188 Volt) and a lower Frontside bus clock (1066 vs 667 MHz). The performance of equally clocked notebooks is 20-25% lower than Desktop PCs because of the lower Frontside bus clock and the slower hard disks.

15.4": 15 inch display-variants are the standard and are used for more than the half of all notebooks. 15.4 inch display with 16:10 are the standard for notebook displays. Nowadays, more and more 16:9 displays with 15.6 inch appear. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.

3 kg: This weight is average for notebooks. Therefore the numerous mass of laptops with 15 inch display fits in this class of weight.
