Overall whichever device you choose you will not make a mistake. Weather you are a fan of the sleek light Zen design, or prefer the more aggressive black and red style of the G501, both devices offer great design, premium feel and sturdy build, thanks to the great materials used. The two also have great performance for both serious work and gaming and the cooling systems are good enough to take the heat off during the heavy work process or some hard battle on the virtual battlefield. If you want touchscreen capabilities and a slightly better sound quality you should go for the ZenBook Pro, while if you want to be sure you will be able to play the upcoming AAA game titles with no problem or you do video editing and require some extra video memory – the Republic of Gamers notebook is your choice.

Model: The stylish and compact Asus G501JW-CN039H is a gaming laptop with killer performance. Even with its seemingly simple silhouette, the Asus G501JW-CN039H is immediately recognized as a high-end machine thanks to its solid chassis and color scheme. The lid comes in a brushed metal grey and sports the famous Republic Of Gamers badge. The full-sized keyboard features a red backlight and an ultra-responsive keystroke. Depending on the variant, the display is either a 15.6 inch 16:9 IPS UHD panel or an IPS FHD panel. Either version provides good colors and contrast.
The system can be upgraded to Windows 10 and houses an Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor clocked at 2.6 GHz, up to 16 GB of RAM, a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M GPU with either 2 GB or 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM and multiple storage configurations ranging from SSDs to PCIe drives. Other features include a card-reader, a HD webcam, three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI out, a Mini-DisplayPort and even a Thunderbolt port on some models. Audio quality is superb with the built-in stereo speakers tuned by Bang and Olufsen. Overall the Asus G501JW-CN039H weighs in at 2.06 kg, which is light enough to be constantly on-the-go, especially in view of the 6-cell Polymer battery, which provides an impressive battery life.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M: Upper mid-range graphics card of the GeForce GTX 900M series.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
4720HQ: Haswell-based quad-core processor clocked at 2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost support up to 3.6 GHz. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 4600 GPU and a dual channel DDR3 memory controller.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
