If Asus has released the Eee PC X101 back in 2007, it would have changed the way we think about computers, portability, and pricing. Instead, Asus released the Eee PC 701… which still did all of those things, even at $400.

The ASUS Eee PC X101 is a sleek and ultra-light netbook with an engaging and intuitive interface. We also like how the MeeGo OS puts social networking front and center. However, we were turned off by the cramped keyboard, sluggish performance, and short battery life. Yes, $199 is cheap, but you can get a better-equipped Windows netbook with much more storage and endurance for just $30 more.

It is very interesting that it comes with a British Council English Language Learning application, interactive games, video and audio recordings, and something like this can serve as a nice gift to someone who plans to teach English language. We weren’t impressed by the MeeGo performance, it is sluggish, but most things works without any problem. This netbook will be a good choice for those who are not much accustomed to some of the already present operating systems and have some big claims, which also fits in the price scope since Eee PC and x101 will be among the cheapest netbooks of this manufacturer.

Portability is a key ingredient in the netbook formula, but having enough processing power to do something useful is just as important. The X101H is certainly portable, but the so-so keyboard and touchpad, slow processor and ordinary battery life really bring it down.

This netbook has some neat features for social networking, as well as quick Internet browsing, but the overall performance of the netbook and the OS is not that great as compared to other netbooks available in the market. One can get another ASUS Eee PC for approximately the same amount that comes pre-loaded with Windows. If one is looking out for a netbook for solely social networking purposes, Internet usage, as well as is willing to experience using a new OS, then this would be an option

Netbooks are arguably on the way out, but as one of the last of a dying breed, the Asus Eee PC X101CH makes for a nice finale. Performance from its new Intel ‘Pine Trail’ Atom processor isn’t a huge improvement and you’re still restricted to light workloads, but the ability to finally play Full HD video smoothly makes this netbook a far more attractive proposition than many. Throw in the X101CH’s sleek good looks, quick wake from resume, decent connectivity and virtually silent running, and we can just about forgive its average battery life and low-resolution screen.

The Eee PC X101CH is a great little notebook for a great little price. For half the price of a new iPad or many Android tablets, you get a computer that can handle 1080p HD video playback and most Windows 7 apps.

Asus: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a major Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer based in Taipei, founded in 1989. Under the Asus brand name, the company manufactures a wide range of products, including laptops, desktops, motherboards, graphics cards, monitors, smartphones and networking equipment, complete systems and PC components for end users.
Under the ROG (Republic of Gamers) brand name, ASUS manufactures gaming laptops known by gamers for their powerful specifications, dedicated graphics cards, high refresh rate displays and advanced cooling systems.
Beyond gaming, a wide range of notebooks are offered for different needs and budgets, from ultra-slim and lightweight ultrabooks to versatile 2-in-1 convertibles and budget-friendly options. In 2023, Asus had a 7% global market share of the PC market.
Customer satisfaction with ASUS notebooks concerns performance, the features, and the good price-performance ratio of ASUS notebooks. However, as with any brand, there are occasional reports of problems such as overheating, driver compatibility, or build quality issues.
These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrated (shared memory) graphics card in the intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimally faster than an old GMA 950 and therefore not suited for 3D games or HD videos (only MPEG2 acceleration).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3600:
Integrated processor graphics card (e.g. in the Atom N2600) without dedicated memory. Most likely based on a PowerVR design similar to the GMA 500 but with higher clock rates.

Intel Atom: The Intel Atom series is a 64-Bit (not every model supports 64bit) microprocessor for cheap and small notebooks (so called netbooks), MIDs, or UMPCs. The speciality of the new architecture is the "in order" execution (instead of the usual and faster "out of order" execution). Therefore, the transistor count of the Atom series is much lower and, thus, cheaper to produce. Furthermore, the power consumption is very low. The performance per Megahertz is therfore worse than the old Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz on par with a 1.6 GHz Atom).
N435:
Intel Atom CPU for Netbooks with integrated DDR3 memory controller and GMA 3150 GPU. The performance of the system is quite low due to the low clock speed of 1.3 GHz.
N455: Intel Atom CPU for Netbooks with integrated DDR3 memory controller and GMA 3150 GPU. The performance of the system should be only minimally faster than the previous Atom N280 / GMA 950 combination.
N2600: Dual core Atom CPU with an integrated SGX545 PowerVR graphics card and a video decoder.
