According to DxOMark, two of Apple's latest iPhones fail to impress when it comes to battery life. Not only does the iPhone 14 Plus offer worse battery life than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but also the iPhone 14 Pro ranks a mere 44th on the website's battery life leaderboard. Still, the iPhone 14 Pro surpasses its predecessor, unlike the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

It seems that Apple's marketing for the iPhone 14 Plus does not always live up to the hype. According to the company, the iPhone 14 Plus offers its 'longest battery life ever', presumably because it combines the battery from the iPhone 14 Pro Max with a lower resolution and slower display. However, DxOMark's battery life analysis suggests otherwise.

Specifically, the iPhone 14 Plus scored 128 points, 5 points short of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and 8 points behind the iPhone 13 Pro Max. For some reason, the iPhone 14 Plus cannot match the iPhone 14 Pro Max in many battery life scenarios. Surprisingly, the cheaper model lasts longer when using its GPS module, as well as when using its camera or making phone calls. Sadly, the iPhone 14 Plus takes a while to recharge too, as remains the case with iPhones. Supposedly, the handset needs 2:29 hours to recharge via a wired connection and 2:54 hours if placed on a wireless charger.

By contrast, the iPhone 14 Pro outscores its predecessor, albeit only by a point. For context, the former's score of 119 points puts it 44th in DxOMark's battery life leaderboard, tied with the Oppo A54 5G and Redmi Note 11. The iPhone 14 Pro falls short of the iPhone 13 Pro in some cases, likely because of its smaller battery capacity. With that said, the newer device delivers better runtimes when playing music, videos or when gaming. Based on our tests, the Apple A16 Bionic is particularly efficient when idling, purportedly because of improved efficiency cores.
