Apple: MacBook Air supporting flash could cost you significant battery life

Teaser
Apple's decision to remove Flash from the default configuration of a new MacBook Air and future Macs may well be because of the CPU hogging Flash player

According to recent findings, it is being widely speculated that the reduction in battery life of the MacBook Air was due to the flash player. This reduction in battery life is of upto 2 hours. This claim is supported by the fact that Apple has decided to remove flash from the default configuration of the new MacBook Air.

Further it has been observed that MacBooks have been getting an above-spec six hours of battery life with the default no-Flash install. A major cause of this extra consumption of battery life has been attributed to the Flash banner ads, that with a lot of graphics and other content cause the CPU clock speed to default drastically by keeping the CPU always occupied. Thereby whenever Flash has been a major component, there has been a noted fall in the running times, as opposed to browsing without Flash content. Android supporting phones also report significant drop in battery life when viewing large videos etc containing flash content. This has been the major reason of why Apple head Steve Jobs ardently opposed flash on the iPhone, resource usage being other major concern owing to which the default install of Flash for the desktop was removed.
