The iPhone 17 Pro phones come with the new A19 Pro SoC, which has already shown slightly improved performance in early Geekbench benchmarks. It seems that the story is pretty much similar when it comes to the AnTuTu benchmark. Update: It appears that the benchmark was run on the iPhone Air, not on the iPhone 17 Pro as initially suspected.

September 15, 2025 08:35 AM GMT update:

The model identifier iPhone 18,4 was initially suspected to be for the iPhone 17 Pro by AnTuTu, but as Apple Wiki suggests, it's for the iPhone Air instead. This means that the benchmark was actually run on the iPhone Air, not on the Pro as previously reported.

Original September 14 article continues as follows:

Apple introduced the iPhone 17 Pro models with a handful of improvements over their predecessors, and the new A19 Pro is one of them. However, not much has changed when compared to the A18 Pro. To be specific, the newer SoC has the same configuration as the predecessor, featuring a 6-core CPU, a 6-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

Of course, Apple did claim that the A19 Pro is the "most capable iPhone chip yet," which mostly comes from the tweaks and vapor chamber that it's paired with on the Pro models. As for the performance, early Geekbench listings have already hinted that there's only a slight improvement, and now, an AnTuTu benchmark listing suggests the same.

As spotted by AnTuTu itself, the A19 Pro inside the iPhone 17 Pro has been benchmarked on the platform. On this first discovered benchmark listing, the SoC has achieved an overall score of 2,033,552 points. To compare, in AnTuTu's database, the A18 Pro of iPhone 16 Pro is shown to achieve a score of 1,954,677.

So, in comparison, the overall score sees around 4% uplift, and it seems most of it is due to the jump from 8 GB of RAM to 12 GB. More specifically, in the AnTuTu score breakdown, the iPhone 17 Pro gets a score of 362,712 in memory, about a 49% improvement over the 242,810 memory score of the iPhone 16 Pro in AnTuTu's database.

Interestingly, the A19 Pro CPU score has seen a 5.5% drop in comparison, which is likely due to the fact that it's an early benchmark score. Future AnTuTu benchmark runs could offer a better score. Still, as the overall configuration is the same as the A18 Pro, the new SoC isn't expected to deliver a big CPU performance leap over its predecessor.
