Android Nougat hits unlocked Moto Z handsets

Unlocked Motorola Moto Z Android smartphone by Lenovo gets Nougat update

As previously promised, the new firmware is now available for all unlocked Moto Z handsets in the US, but it seems the update only includes the November security patches at this time.

Not so long ago, we saw the promise of this update, and now Android Nougat has started to roll out to all unlocked Moto Z handsets in the US. Those who acquired the unlocked Moto Z back in September had to wait for a while, especially since the Verizon variants of the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid got updated in November. However, these handsets were also released earlier, hitting the market in July.

The new firmware for unlocked Moto Z handsets comes with support for Google's Daydream VR platform, as well as the usual Nougat goodies - improved Doze power saving, split-screen mode, improved notifications, customizable Quick Settings, quick app switching, and more.

According to the users' reports received by Android Authority so far, the update only comes with the security patches released by Google in November. The unlocked Moto Z Play, unfortunately, will only get its Nougat firmware next month.
