Android M features shown in Samsung's infographics

One of the most important features of Android 5.2 („M”) is going to be giving users control over which elements of the device (microphone, camera, network, etc.) can be used by specific applications.

The next version of Android, so far known as „Android M” is set to launch in November. To sweeten up the waiting, Samsung has just released an infographics highlighting the most interesting features of the new edition of Mountain View giant’s mobile operating system.

One of the most important features of Android 5.2 („M”) is going to be giving users control over which elements of the device (microphone, camera, network, etc.) can be used by specific applications. Also, users will be able to check which running apps use the most RAM and therefore have the most influence on the handset’s performance.

Users of handsets that feature fingerprint scanners will be able to use this form of authentication to log on to platforms like Google Play Store and authorize purchases with a touch of the finger rather than having to type in passwords.

According to the infographics, Android M will automatically back up all applications user data and settings onto Google Drive. The maximum amount of data stored will be 25 MB per app.

Samsung also promises that Android M will be much more efficient in terms of energy management than Android 5.0. When the device is not used for an extended period of time, the system will switch to energy-saving Doze mode. Also, the App Standby function will freeze inactive background threads and stop them from accessing the web if needed.
