Smartphone could be only available to AT&T customers in the US according to a WSJ report.

Amazon's long-awaited smartphone won't be unveiled till tomorrow in Seattle, yet the device is making big ripples ahead of the launch. A new 3D holographic interface is expected to be featured prominently on the device and now word has it that only AT&T customers may have access.

According to The Wall Street Journal, when Amazon takes the wraps off their smartphone tomorrow they will also announce an agreement with AT&T to be the exclusive carrier within the United States.  The report doesn't carry much more info, but the rumor appears to have been confirmed by T-Mobile CEO John Legere, as he voiced his displeasure with the move on Twitter and claimed that it makes the industry feel "a whole lot smaller".

At this point in time, it's tough to judge whether or not this is a smart move on Amazon's part, as exclusive smartphones have succeeded and flopped in the past, with the original iPhone and HTC Facebook phone as examples on both sides of the spectrum. Ultimately, the 3D experience will likely govern the success of Amazon's device, but if it does prove enticing enough then AT&T may have secured a huge boon.
