Amazon's Fire TV Cube is coming soon
Amazon has posted a splash page on its website inviting visitors to sign up to a mailing list to learn more details about the upcoming Fire TV Cube. Little is actually known about the device at the moment, but it is expected to be the next generation of Amazon’s Fire TV range. AFTVnews managed to dig up some information about the cube-shaped device last year but only the pendant-style Fire TV model was released in the end.
There has already been speculation about the Fire TV Cube’s features and capabilities. There are buttons on the top of the device which seem to be for volume control, mute, and one for activating Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa. According to AFTVnews, holes in the top of the cube suggest that it may be possible to talk to Alexa without requiring the voice search feature on the remote. The Fire TV Cube in the leaked image (see below) also features the trademark blue LED bar that is found on Alexa-enabled devices.
Amazon released Fire TV in 2014, with the second generation coming out in 2015 and the third generation launching in October 2017. It will be interesting to see what features the upcoming Fire TV Cube delivers.
