The service is only available in the US for now and provides access to thousands of audiobooks and over 600,000 eBooks for $9.99 USD a month (there is a 30-day free trial period as well).

Amazon introduced Kindle Unlimited at the end of last week, allowing its customers to gain access to thousands of Audible audiobooks, as well as over 600,000 Kindle books. This subscription service can be accessed for $9.99 USD a month, but a free 30-day trial is also available for those who want to give it a try first.

Next to unlimited reading and listening, Amazon Kindle Unlimited also features the following:

  • Kindle exclusives (including The Hangman’s Daughter series by Oliver Pötzsch and Sick by Brett Battles)
  • Short reads - books shorter than 100 pages, including short fiction from Amazon Publishing’s StoryFront imprint
  • Free three-month Audible membership
  • Cross-platform access - users can access all the available content on iPhone, iPad, Android smartphones and tablets, Windows Phone handsets, BlackBerry smartphones, as well as on Windows and Mac OS X computers

In addition to the above, Kindle Unlimited provides access to all the Kindle features already present, including Popular Highlights, X-Ray, Whispersync, customer reviews, and Goodreads integration. Unfortunately, the service is only available for US customers at this time and Amazon did not provide any information regarding worldwide availability yet.
