It is expected that shipping of around 30 to 40 million tablets will start this year. We know that Amazon currently has a range of 7 inch screen.
This 10.1 inch tablet has reportedly been introduced to compete with Apple’s new version of the iPad which may be released this year. The Apple’s iPad has a 9.7 inch screen.
Amazon has earlier put on hold on the development of 8.9 inch model which was supposed to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablets.
Last year In December, it was almost confirmed when Apple ordered for 7.85 inch panels from LG Display and AU Optronics. Above that the website iMore has also claimed to have a reliable source saying that it will soon release the smaller version of the tablet in October in the price range of $200 to $250. It is said that this low priced tablet will absolutely leave no room for the other competitors in the market.
Time columnist Harry McCracken has brushed aside these rumors saying that in the last 25 Digitimes tech stories only 9 came out to be entirely correct.
