All Asus netbooks to have matte display starting Q4

Teaser
This decision of Asus might take away a bit of playful look of its machines, but will become easier to handle

Asus reportedly will start deploying matte finish display panels to all its netbooks starting Q4 – the company announced in Taiwan recently. This is after a brief stint with a few netbooks with glossy displays. The exact reason is not known, though it could be in pursuit of a business differentiation with Acer who generally uses glossy displays in all of its netbooks, a cost factor, or can be as simple as a customer-centric view after possible feedback from netbook owners.

Whatever could be the reason, a matte display has both its positives and negatives. A display with matte finish does not easily attract fingerprints so you don’t have to keep cleaning it all the time. On the other hand, a glossy display enhances the playful looks of a netbook, especially when it’s a consumer model.
