The Alcatel 5, Alcatel 3V, and Alcatel 1X were all introduced at CES 2018, and on February 24 they are scheduled to hit the market. Powered by MediaTek processors, they are all expected to target budget-conscious consumers.

Last month at CES, Alcatel unveiled three new handsets but did not mention any release date. Now, the trio that consists of the Alcatel 5, 3V, and 1X is ready to hit the market and will be released at the end of next week, on February 24. Since they were all shown to the public at CES 2018, these upcoming Android handsets have only a few secrets left, mainly the price- and availability-related details.

The Alcatel 5 is a 5.7-inch handset with an 18:9 IPS display that has a rather low resolution of just 1,440 x 720 pixels. Its specs apparently include an octa-core MediaTek processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, and there are no dual cameras to talk about.

Next, the Alcatel 3V will hit the market with a 6-inch display that offers 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. However, this MediaTek-driven phablet will only come with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. To make the specs list even stranger, Alcatel decided to add a dual camera setup on the back.

At last, the Alcatel 1X is expected to arrive as the most affordable handset of the trio. Its features are unknown for now, but those who encountered it at CES say it features a smaller 18:9 display. Since the other two mentioned above come with MediaTek processors, we do not expect any surprises from this one, either.

By taking a quick look at the comments received by Alcatel USA on Twitter, it becomes clear that the company needs to pay more attention to its customers. For example, the 2016 flagship Alcatel Idol 4S is still stuck with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, although it features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor and 3 GB RAM.

We will get back to these three new Alcatel handsets once they hit the market, so stay tuned.
