Acer launches the TravelMate P645 ultrabook

The new notebook offers top-tier performance with an Intel Haswell processor and AMD graphics

Acer seems to be a firm supporter of Windows 8. It was the first OEM to introduce a sub-10-inch tablet running the OS (Iconia W3), and now is starting to fill out its product range with the TravelMate P645 ultrabook

The P645 is a high-end notebook targeted at business customers. It features a 14-inch anti-glare display in either Full HD 1920 x 1080 or HD 1366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Core i5 or i7 Haswell processor, 2 GB AMD Radeon HD 8750M or Intel HD 5000 series graphics, up to 12 GB or RAM, internal SSD storage up to 256 GB, a 720p webcam, dual speakers, 8 hours of battery life, an optional docking station, and a full range of security features.

While not cheap, Acer didn't skimp on the features here. The notebook and docking station have enough ports to satisfy even the most demanding user, the keyboard is full-sized, spill-resistant, and backlit, there is support for up to three displays, and it also comes with a two year warranty. Quite an achievement for a device that only weighs 3.31 pounds and is only 0.81 inches thick.

The P645 will be available this month in the United States and Canada. Prices start at US$949.99 and 899.99 CAD.
