Acer Swift 7 SF713-51
The Acer has indeed shifted away from producing mediocre functional machines to stunning power performers. It is hard not to be swept away by the good looks of the Acer Swift 7. The fact that it won the Good Design Award 2016 comes as no surprise as it is alluring with its matte aluminium exterior and bronze-gold interior. Acer also claims it to be the thinnest laptop (at 9.98 mm), thinner even than the HP Spectre. It is also incredibly lightweight at 1.12 kg (2.48 lb). Its dimensions measure at 1.02 x 32.51 x 22.86 cm (0.4 x 12.8 x 9 inch). Carrying this ultrathin laptop around is a non-issue and it stands as a solid attention grabber. Moreover, comes with the Precision touchpad, which provides ample width for navigation and gesturing control. What the Swift 7 scores in style is not conceded by its substance. It boasts a 13.3-inch (1920 x 1080-pixel resolution) screen, which displays remarkably crisp visuals. Full HD resolution might not sound like much, but thanks to CineCrystal and IPS technology, it gives enough viewing pleasure. Extra protection is provided by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. This increases the Swift 7’s damage resistance, which can withstand drops up to 2 times better than devices with other glass.
Specs-wise, it is powered by a 1.20 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 256 GB SSD. Acer also ensures connectivity on the Swift 7 lives up to its name. With MU-MIMO technology, wireless performance is up to 3 times faster than with the previous 2x2 802.11ac. Two USB 3.1 Type-C ports allow faster data transfers, device charging and display output with one reversible cable. However, most USB 2.0 devices would be rendered almost obsolete on this machine (save with an adapter of course). The omission of a USB 2.0 port appears necessary in order to achieve the ultra-thinness of this laptop. It might come as a surprise, but users should expect to see similar port configurations in future ultra-thin laptops. And it would also be nice to see both Type-C ports capable of supporting Thunderbolt. It is again mind-blowing how the Swift 7 is capable of up to 9 hours of battery life despite such thinness. This surely will appeal those who require the added battery juice for longer productivity. Sound quality is equally impressive as it is boosted with Dolby Audio Premium and Acer TrueHarmony. It comes pre-installed with Windows 10 Home 64-bit. In all, Acer seems to have got it right on all fronts with the Swift 7 as it is leading both in style and substance. All these does come at quite a high price though. However, if price is not an issue, this ultra-thin laptop is the way to go.Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

Slim, Slimmer, Acer Swift 7! The trend towards slimmer devices keeps going on. Acer has now created the slimmest notebook in the world: less than 10 mm (~0.4 in) thick. We will check to see how well the Kaby Lake dual-core SoC works in our review.

Es gibt nur sehr wenig Negatives über das Acer Swift 7 zu sagen und dafür sehr viel Positives. Allerdings muss man hier vieles in Relation setzen, was das Acer Swift 7 erreichen will: Ein wirklich herausragendes Design in Verbindung mit hoher Portabilität. Natürlich letzteres in Form von Akkulaufzeit und Kompaktheit. Und beides erreicht das Acer Swift 7 in einem wirklich sehr hohem Masse.

Getting your hands on the Swift 7 should cost you no less than R24 999, which is what Acer recommended the price at when it debuted at IFA late last year. That said, some online retailers are listing it at just under the R20k mark (Takealot), which makes it one of the better priced premium notebooks around, provided you know where to look.

Not only is it faster and thinner than the competition, it’s also very competitively priced, basically equal to that of the Razer and XPS 13 when they’re similarly specced. As a result, we have to give the nod to the Swift as arguably our favourite new Ultrabook, though we would love to see a larger SSD and touchscreen in future.

Acer is selling the Swift 7 in select stores and on Flipkart at Rs.99,999, making it line up against the Dell XPS 13 and the HP Spectre 13, both of which have now been refreshed with Kaby Lake Core i5 processors but cost around Rs.10,000 more than their original prices. All things considered, you're probably better off putting in that extra money and buying either the Dell or HP. This doesn’t mean the Swift 7 is a bad product but we feel that it simply isn't competitive enough.

The Acer Swift 7 is one of the thinnest laptops in the world, and it costs a bit less than some in this class. Add a good trackpad, a decent screen and a solid-if-shallow keyboard and you have a great ultra-portable machine for work and the sorts of time-wasting most of us do on our laptops.

The Acer Swift 7 is shown on the Acer website for $1099, but Amazon is currently selling it for $999. As its top-of-the-line Swift computer and for the price, I was a bit disappointed in the i5 processor. This laptop ought to have an i7 processor.

We don’t think the Acer Swift 7 will let users down when it comes to durability though. The laptop is much sturdier than its thin design portends and it is quite attractive in our opinion. It should hold up to the bumps and bangs of daily use just fine, and will looks good doing it. Buyers who are looking for a stylish laptop for casual use or light business duty should be satisfied with the Swift 7’s staid performance, and will likely appreciate its relatively affordable price point and dig its good looks and strong battery life.

We like the Swift 7, as we liked the HP Spectre and Asus ZenBook 3 before it. Each challenges the Apple MacBook with extra functionality or performance. The Acer's tepid test results, however, keep it from claiming an Editors' Choice.

The Acer Swift 7 is a great piece of equipment or jewelry. It’s absurdly thin, light, compact and portable. It will serve you well during the day with good battery life, enough computing for browsing, office work and multimedia. Speaking of which, the screen offers excellent properties – it’s crisp, bright enough for indoor use, vivid and uses PWM only below 17% brightness making it virtually harmless to your eyes.

Acer's new Swift 7 almost nails it in every aspect, be it design, performance or the battery. If you want a powerful crazy thin laptop, the Acer Swift 7 is your best option. Thin might not be a substitute for portability or performance, but it does turn heads. Acer goes beyond that gimmick, though: The Swift 7 has a premium feel, with a sturdy frame, a decent and enormous trackpad, a pleasant keyboard, and a black-and-gold finish. (Of course, tastes vary, so that inner coat of gold could be viewed as either elegant or gaudy.)

Other complaints may seem minor, but are still worth noting. Foremost, the Swift 7 is also missing a touchscreen. (You only miss it when it’s gone!) And under load, portions of the chassis can get scorchingly hot—particularly the bit directly above the keyboard. Finally, while the four-and-a-half-hour battery life isn’t appalling, it’s a lot less than the “up to 9 hours” Acer promises.

The Acer Swift 7 takes its place as the current thinnest Windows laptop on the market. While it has impressive battery life and a beautiful screen, you have to make compromises to get them that you don't with rivals like the HP Spectre 13 and the New Razer Blade Stealth. If you're willing to give up a bit of performance for ultimate portability, the Swift 7 is a good choice, but at this price point, we'd recommend instead getting something with a more powerful processor to help keep the laptop feeling faster longer.

Acer’s Swift 7 has a lot of competition, and at $1,100, it’s not a bargain. But the Asus Zenbook 3 is the only competitor in its category that we’d buy instead, and even there, it’s a question of priorities. The Zenbook 3 is smaller, yet faster. But the Acer Swift 7 will keep working after the Zenbook’s battery goes flat.

The Acer Swift 7 is advertised at the thinnest laptop out there at the time of this post (September 2016), and despite that, it's actually very well built and packs solid features. However, I feel that its footprint, keyboard, IO and even screen and battery life were sacrificed in one way or another to meet the sleek aesthetic requirements, and I for one am not happy with the trade. With a launch price of €1,299 in Europe (around £1,326 inc VAT), presumably for a Core i7 model, this is an expensive machine. If this turns out to be an accurate specification and price, the Swift 7 will offer better value than the 12-inch MacBook but will be more expensive than the powerful HP Spectre 13.

The Acer Swift 7 is a tough proposition for me, but if the world’s slimmest laptop catches your fancy, and you don’t mind the Swift 7’s “okay” battery life and somewhat limited processing power, it is a mighty fine option. Positive: Solid workmanship; nice design; compact size; decent autonomy. Negative: Average performance.

Acer Swift 7 SF714-51T
The Acer Swift 7 SF714-51T is one of the first traditional notebooks with eSIM compatibility and integrated LTE. Users can surf the net when away from a WLAN source without the need to insert any SIM card as long as the carrier supports the feature. Fortunately, a nano-SIM slot is still available for users who prefer to connect the traditional way. The ultra-skinny Swift 7 looks supremely sleek and futuristic at only 8.98 mm thick. That is pretty mind-blowing really, especially when considering it actually thinner than a number of recent and new smartphones. In comparison, the Spectre 13 and Zenbook 3 are 10.4 mm and 11.9 mm thick, respectively. A thin profile also equates to a lightweight product and the Swift 7 is a true featherweight at around 1.2 kg. Firstly, the narrow bezels have allowed Acer to upgrade the size of the display from 13.3-inch on the outgoing model to a 14-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen on this latest redesign. The undeniably good-looking laptop features an all-black aluminum design. Its design integrates the antenna into the unibody chassis. It might not come in handy very often, but the screen can fold back 180 degrees from the shut position. That means it is not a 2-in-1 convertible but is certainly flexible. Since Intel did not update its Y-series ultra-low-voltage processors last year, the 2nd generation Acer Swift 7 is based on the 7th Generation dual-core Core i7-7Y75 SoC featuring the Kaby Lake microarchitecture and a 4.5 W TDP. The CPU is accompanied by 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM as well as a 256 GB PCIe SSD. The 14-inch screen of the Swift 7 finds a fine balance of features, opting for a Full HD resolution rather than anything higher, which ought to aid battery life. Bezels are smaller and the Full HD IPS display is now touch sensitive, which these days users found far more useful than when laptops first started getting touch support. The display showed good color, brightness and was also responsive. The webcam has been moved to below the screen to allow for the size jump and Acer has also added a fingerprint scanner to the left of the keyboard for Windows Hello log in. Connectivity options are limited to just two USB Type-C ports. The laptop features a backlit keyboard and 2x2 MIMO wireless-ac. When it comes to battery life, Acer rates the new Swift 7 model to work for up to 10 hours. The Acer Swift 7 might not be perfect for 2018 but it is an amazingly thin laptop that will no doubt be a great choice for those looking for a travel companion. The Acer Swift 7 SF714-51T is really suitable for people who are looking for a reasonably priced laptop with higher performance. Hands-on article by Jagadisa RajarathnamSpecifications

The Swift 7 isn't a gimmick; it's a solid notebook with a gorgeous display, a premium design and surprisingly long battery life. But don't let me mislead you, the razor-thin chassis is absolutely the reason you should buy the Swift 7 rather than another ultraportable laptop.

Between a touchpad that doesn’t click to its aging, fanless processor, the Acer Swift 7 is an absolutely gorgeous Ultrabook – the ‘world’s thinnest,’ in fact – that we simply can’t recommend in a sea of laptops that are far more powerful and not much thicker for the same price or less.

Acer's Swift 7 (2018) is an engineering marvel, among the thinnest and lightest laptop PCs. But subpar performance and a poor typing experience make it uncomfortable to use.

The updated 2019 version isn’t launching until May, though. Right now, it’s hard to recommend the current iteration of the Acer Swift 7. It’s certainly a joy to behold, and to carry from home to work. But then the problems set in. We’d lower its review score as a consequence of its poor performance, certainly. Its fatal flaw, however, is the poor keyboard and even worse trackpad.

One of the latest batch of notebooks to come on the market from Acer and not only is it powerful but has the absolutely latest version of Windows 10 that is V1809. Another of the recent inclusions is just USB ‘C’ ports on the unit. However for those that still need standard USB2 and USB3 an adapter unit is supplied in the box to attach.

Overall, Acer's Swift 7 is an impressive bit of kit. It's got some pretty decent specs for such a tiny and lightweight device, but those who were hoping to take advantage of Intel's most efficient chips yet might be best holding off before splurging on the Swift 7. Especially considering it'll retail for a rather ridiculous starting price of $1,699, which is around £1,250 (plus VAT).

The Acer Swift 7 for 2018 might not be perfect but it's an amazingly thin laptop that will no doubt be a great choice for those looking for a travel companion. The Acer Swift 7 has lots of competition thanks to the bevy of ultraportable laptops available, though having an older seventh-gen processor is a knock against it, especially at these prices. Still, the Swift 7 might make sense for you if you want the feeling of sheer freedom you get with a device that weighs so outrageously little, yet has a big screen and the full functionality of Windows 10. It would be great for getting light work done while commuting, flying economy class, or juggling lots of other things in your bags. If that sounds good, we'd say you should consider whether you can adjust to the keyboard layout and live with the constrained CPU. We just wouldn't want anyone to have to use this laptop for all their work, all the time.

Although this is not the strongest laptop on the market, the lack of moving parts in it gives it a lot of breathing space. What we saw on this device is a bold statement from Acer – you can do almost everything – from a 21-inch ultra gaming monstrosity – to a 14-inch ultrabook that weighs just 890 grams. Whether you will buy it or not – it is your choice.

Once the initial thrill of using a sub-900g laptop wears off, it's clear that the Swift 7 mainly suits a very, very specific type of user: one who will only be performing relatively basic tasks, but still wants something as thin and light as it's possible to get without massive reducing display size.

There's a lot that's good about the Acer Swift 7, and there's some that's bad. Let's start with a recap of the bad. Performance isn't great with the Y-series processor, and the audio volume is too low. These are my biggest complaints. The webcam placement is awkward, and there's no IR camera, but I couldn't care less about these things. And while I do hate bloatware in a world of Signature PCs, it's easy to uninstall.

The goal of the Swift 7 is noble: make a standard clamshell laptop as thin and light as possible in order to make it as portable as it can be. As a regular commuter, it’s something I’d typically appreciate — anything that makes my backpack or shoulder bag lighter makes me happier. But the number of compromises the Swift 7 has to make to hit its level of thinness and lightness are just too much for me. I’d rather put up with an extra half pound of weight and quarter inch of thickness for a better keyboard, better performance, more reliable build quality, and a usable webcam.

Acer’s Swift 7 (July 2019) 14-inch laptop still represents the pinnacle of the thin-and-light PC movement. Amazingly, this breathtakingly slim notebook PC is significantly lighter than its predecessor, while solving many of the usability issues which detracted from Acer’s previous Swift 7.

The Acer Swift 7 is an eye-catching ultrabook and there’s no denying the model’s attractiveness as a slim, minimalist laptop. Buyers get a modern, thoughtful aesthetic, but one that ultimately fumbles where it could have flourished. The thinness comes with a big price — both figuratively and literally given the model’s hefty starting price of $1,699 USD. Customers who want a notebook that demands attention from others, takes up very little space, and that is imperceptible when in a shoulder bag will appreciate the Swift 7. Consumers who also put a heavy focus on functionality may grow frustrated with the model’s flexible body, lack of ports, and the persistent sense of paranoia about whether the laptop will truly withstand impact the first time it is dropped.

The Swift 7 reigns supreme as the ultimate thin-and-light PC. Its performance may be modest, and its heat output slightly worrisome. The webcam is one of the worst we’ve used. The LG Gram, another ultralight PC, heartily outperforms it—but the Gram weighs 2.5 pounds, and the Swift 7 weighs just 1.84 pounds.

The Acer Swift 7 breaks records with its slim, light design, but the cut-down exterior doesn’t add practical advantages. Elsewhere it’s good, but no better than rivals while costing more. It’s a good talking point, but as a laptop it’s no better than cheaper competitors.

While the Swift 1, 3 and 5 are easy to recommend, the Swift 7 is not. It costs a packet, it's not that powerful, and the build quality is poor for the sake of keeping it ultra-thin and ultra-light. It does have an impressive screen though, which is what we come back for above all else. Overall: it's specialised but not successful for the masses.

With the Swift 7, Aces has added a feather-light and ultra-slim 14-inch notebook to its offerings. The device scores with an IPS touchscreen display, 16 GB of working memory (dual-channel mode), and silent operation. This is accompanied by a good battery life and two Thunderbolt-3 slots. For the whole package, you have to put almost 2000 Euros (~$2226; $1700 in the US) on the table.

14.00:
14 inch display size represents a middle ground between the small subnotebook formats and the screens of the standard 15 inch laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, provides good resolutions with usable detail sizes, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact.
In the past, 14-inch devices were very rare, but now they are the standard for laptops after the 15-inchers.

76.9%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
