Acer has announced new updates to its gaming desktop lineup with the Predator Orion 7000 series. The Predator Orion 7000 series are targeted at enthusiast gamers and have the specs and looks to match.
The Acer Predator Orion 7000 is probably among the first OEM PCs to sport Intel's upcoming 12th gen Alder Lake processors. Acer has not divulged any specifics of the processor options offered, which is understandable considering that Intel hasn't officially announced them yet.
However, the company did confirm that the Predator Orion 7000 will feature overclockable processors, which means we can expect unlocked Core i7 and Core i9 variants. Also being indicated is support for up to 64 GB of DDR5-4000 RAM. Driving the visuals are options of either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or an RTX 3090 GPU.
The Predator Orion 7000's chassis features transparent, tempered glass side panels. Acer has equipped the desktop with three FrostBlade 2.0 ARGB fans — two 140 mm fans in the front and a 120 mm fan in the rear. The rear fan can be replaced easily with a 240 mm alternative via an opening at the top of the case. Fan speed and ARGB lighting can be controlled via Acer's PredatorSense software.
The Alder Lake CPU, on the other hand, is cooled by an AIO cooler. Acer said that the FrostBlade 2.0 fans and the AIO cooler together offer improved thermal management without any dust ingress or lubricant leaks.
On the connectivity front, the Orion 7000 desktop features a Killer 2.5G LAN card and Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211. Ports on the front of the chassis include 3x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 1x USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C, and two 3.5 mm audio jacks. Towards the rear, we have 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C, 2x USB 2.0 ports, and 3x audio jacks. Interestingly, there is no mention of Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Two PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs up to 1 TB each cater to the storage requirements. There's also a 2.5-inch USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C hotswap storage bay available.
The Acer Predator Orion 7000 (P07-640) will be available in North America from Q2 2022, in EMEA from Q1 2022 starting from €2,199, and in China from Q1 2022 starting from RMB 20,000.
