Absolute silence. A liquid cooling system in a convertible does not work? Of course it does! For the first time ever, Acer has installed a silent cooling technology in a high-performance convertible based on Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors. This innovation is not the only reason that it is going to get rough on the competition.

All in all, Acer Switch Alpha 12 a fairly good 2-in-1 that works well both as a laptop and a tablet. It's quite premium looking and at a price tag of Rs 53,990, we think is quite a good deal. Some of the notable features include Windows 10, Liquid cooling. The included stylus and keyboard folio further enhance user experience. But just in case you're looking for alternatives and are willing to shell out more money, you can go for the HP Elite x2, which starts at a price of Rs 91,449.

We're really impressed at the power and value Acer offers with the Switch Alpha 12. Yes, like other competitors, it's a Surface Pro 4 clone, but that's not a bad thing: Microsoft created the Surface line to inspire and spur manufacturers to create exciting and compelling 2-in-1 Windows convertible designs.

The Huawei MateBook wanted to be an affordable 2-in-1 tablet. But if that’s what you want, ignore the Matebook: Acer’s Switch Alpha 12 is what you’ve been looking for. Sure, it’s not beautiful like the Matebook, but it offers more power for the same price, and includes the keyboard case instead of charging extra.

As Acer accurately advertised, the device is capable of handling more demanding tasks and the performance is on par with a normal 15-inch laptop. The LiquidLoop cooling system is excellent and withstood our extreme test quite well. Apart from raw performance, the device offers good multimedia experience too. The display covers almost all of the sRGB gamut, it has high contrast ratio and it’s bright enough for outdoor use. And despite the pixel-packed QHD panel, Acer’s Switch Alpha 12 delivers excellent battery life, particularly on web browsing test. We can’t miss to mention, though, that the display uses PWM – except at 100% brightness – and the frequency of the emitted light is relatively low and thus has a bigger impact on one’s eyesight. Nevertheless, this can be avoided when using our Health-Guard profile.

Acer promised us a tablet with laptop-class performance and a fanless design… and the company delivered on that promise. I’ve spent the last two weeks testing the Acer Switch Alpha 12, and I really did find myself using it as a notebook replacement for most of that time. Occasionally I picked it up to read an article or eBook or to test the pen input.

With a gorgeous display, solid performance and future-proof ports, the Acer Switch Alpha 12 comes frustratingly close to being one of the best 2-in-1s you can buy. But this system falls down hard in one critical area: battery life.To get a higher-resolution screen, better battery life and stronger performance, you should splurge on the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.
