15mm Ultrabook comes with 256GB SSD, i7 processor and a $1,399 price tag

Fresh off the announcement of Acer's S7 Ultrabook at Computex, we're now hearing news about another previously announced Acer Ultrabook. Acer's Aspire S5 Ultrabook was first announced at CES back in January, and the notebook has now popped up for pre-ordering from the Microsoft Store.

Featuring a weight of just 2.65 pounds and coming in at only .59 inches (15mm) thick, the S5 was originally introduced as the "world's thinnest Ultrabook" and comes with a magnesium-aluminum cover and palmrest. Thankfully, the S5 isn’t all looks and no brains as it also comes with a 256GB SSD, a 1.90GHz Ivy Bridge i7-3517U CPU, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 4000. The 13.3” notebook also comes with a 1366x768 pixel resolution and is one of the few Ultrabooks to feature a Thunderbolt port.

While the notebook can be pre-ordered today from Microsoft’s store, the device won't ship until the 25th of June based on the estimated shipping date. In the meantime, you can check out our hands-on footage of the S5 from when it was first introduced at CES and we managed to take it for a quick spin.
