Reviews for the Acer Aspire One 532h

90% Acer Aspire One AO532h

Broadband or no broadband, this netbook competes well with others in its category, in all aspects. Personally, an all-glossy finish isn't usually my preference, especially if there are options, such as the pearl-white matte finish Samsung N150, which is aesthetically more appealing than this one. However, if I'm getting built-in broadband by paying a thousand rupees extra, then functionality trounces looks and aesthetics. In which case, the Aspire One AO532h is certainly a better pick. Another very close comparison is the Asus EeePC 1005P, which is priced at Rs 21,945, on www.compareindia.com. It has the same hardware and is as light and convenient to carry as this one, so while there are other options, it is the functionality of the AO532h which is attractive, primarily. All-in-all, we'd say that this netbook is worth the buck, what's your take on it?

Acer Aspire One 532h Review

I have been very impressed with the Acer Aspire One 532h, from its design and build quality, to its battery life and low price. While its specifications are a lot like many other netbooks on the market today, the 523h is a great choice. What makes the 523h a real winner is its very low price of just $299 or $349 (even less on amazon.com!). Acer have managed to undercut the likes of Asus and Toshiba, without compromising on design or battery life. For less money you get a very stylish, thin and light modern netbook with a great keyboard and battery life. I can highly recommend the Acer Aspire One 532h. In the UK you can buy the Acer Aspire One 532h from Amazon UK for less than £299.

At the end of the day, the Aspire One 532h and LT2120u are just netbooks. Solid competitors in the netbook class, but nothing mind blowing, and not really good enough to knock the ASUS Eee 1001P off its throne. They're not built quite as well and the LCD isn't near the high quality panel the ASUS uses, but the Aspire One (and Gateway clone) are still capable netbooks. I can't recommend them over the 1001P, primarily because of the LCD, but other than that the difference between them and the rest of the netbook class is pretty slight. The Acer and Gateway are both specced and priced to equal the 1001P and others, so if you prefer the Acer or Gateway brands, these are definitely up to scratch.

Source: Trusted Reviews English Archive.org version
Despite being 'brand new', Intel's Pine Trail Atom platform doesn't offer too much improvement over its predecessor in terms of functionality. While not a bad effort, the Acer Aspire One 532h-2Dr suffers for being very similar to its Packard Bell sibling and not offering enough incentive over cheaper, previous generation machines that are considerably cheaper. It won't let you down, but neither will it blow you away.

Acer's Aspire One AO532h-2223 is probably one of the least expensive of the new generation of netbooks. With a price tag of $300, it keeps the price level with previous generations. There were some compromises down to achieve this price including holding back the hard drive size and using a smaller battery. Still, if one ones a netbook for very little and minds a few compromises, this is certainly one to take a look at.

At a price of Rs.19,776, this netbook comes at a very slight premium to the price in this category, but since it’s a new technology with weighable improvements in battery life, and also slight improvements in CPU heavyperformance tasks, we can rightfully state that the price is warranted, and also have a feeling it’s going to be one of the lower priced ones when more PineTrail models come out.

The Acer Aspire One 532h is a capable netbook, offering the sort of battery life to make it a practical all-day device. Recent models have seen a step forward in endurance and this basic spec device delivers that, suggesting a bright year for the latest crop of netbooks. In design terms it won't set the world alight, lacking the svelte lines that some rivals will offer. There are more powerful devices out there, with the latest wave of Nvidia ION notebooks and models carrying double the RAM, bringing with them greater performance overall, if that's an important consideration for you.

When it comes to netbooks, you can count on Acer for sleek looks and affordability, and Acer’s latest, the Aspire One AO532h, is no exception. Starting at a low $299 but equipped with a netbook-standard mix of components, the 10.1-inch AO532h is a compact, portable machine that goes easy on your wallet without looking like a budget machine. Acer’s Pine Trail netbook offers above-average performance at a price that puts most other netbooks to shame.

It's an endless saga with Acer's and perhaps the world's most popular line of netbooks, as it readies yet another one. The Aspire One (532h-2326) ($350 street) is the update to the Aspire One (D250-1958) and it adds some significant hardware changes—both external and internal.
The Acer Aspire One (532h-2326) boasts nearly 10 hours of battery life and new and improved keyboard, but looks weigh this netbook down.

Netbooks based on Intel's Pine Trail Atom chips are now available, and the Acer Aspire One 532h is Acer's latest offering based on the new Atom chip.  The Acer Aspire One 532h's clincher is its price. For around £290 this is a very good netbook. Not only that, the Aspire One 532h has a better keyboard and touchpad, offers respectable performance, very good battery life and great value for money. We definitely recommend it.

Acer and HP appear to be Costco's favorite netbook suppliers, since they also happen to be the cheapest and mostly widely sold in this space. The Acer Aspire One (532h-2268) ($300 street) deviates from the Acer Aspire One (AO532h-2326) slightly, in that the 532h-2268 model has a smaller battery (48Wh instead of 59Wh) and hard drive (160GB instead of 250GB). The Acer Aspire One (AO532h-2268) is still one of the most inexpensive netbooks in the business and Costco is selling this model with a 2-year warranty and over 9 hours of battery life.

In most respects, the Acer Aspire One 532h is a lot like every other netbook: specs include a 1.66-GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, Windows 7 Starter Edition, and a 250GB hard drive. Its performance, too, is almost identical to such netbooks as the Toshiba mini NB305 and the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE-P. Where Acer has everyone else beat, though, is price. At $349, the company has undercut the longer-lasting 1005PE-P by $30, and the NB305 by $50.

Acer Aspire One 532h review
Source: Engadget English Archive.org version
We have no doubt that Acer will sell loads of Aspire One 532hs. No, not because it's the best netbook on the market, but because it's the one with the best price. Sure, it doesn't have the keyboard or battery life of the $380 Eee PC 1005PE, but that's the difference $80 (or $30 if you go with the higher end version of the 532h) makes. If you can spend a bit more money, at the moment we'd recommend the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE for its stellar battery life, but if you're looking for a small laptop that can get the job done on-the-go for $300 -- a netbook that's truly a netbook -- the 532h makes a fine companion.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3150: Integrated (shared memory) graphics card in the intel Atom N4xx CPUs. Minimally faster than an old GMA 950 and therefore not suited for 3D games or HD videos (only MPEG2 acceleration).

These graphics cards are not suited for Windows 3D games. Office and Internet surfing however is possible.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Atom: The Intel Atom series is a 64-Bit (not every model supports 64bit) microprocessor for cheap and small notebooks (so called netbooks), MIDs, or UMPCs. The speciality of the new architecture is the "in order" execution (instead of the usual and faster "out of order" execution). Therefore, the transistor count of the Atom series is much lower and, thus, cheaper to produce. Furthermore, the power consumption is very low. The performance per Megahertz is therfore worse than the old Pentium 3M (1,2 GHz on par with a 1.6 GHz Atom).

N450:

Intel Atom CPU for Netbooks with integrated memory controller and GMA 3150 GPU. The performance of the system should be only minimally faster than the previous Atom N280 / GMA 950 combination.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

10.10":

This is a standard display format for tablet computers or small convertibles. You see more on the screen than on a smartphone but you can't use big resolutions well. On the other hand, mobility is not a problem.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

Acer: In 1976, the company was founded in Taiwan under the name Multitech and was renamed Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors, TVs and computer peripherals. Since 2007, the group has merged with Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell, which also market their own laptop product lines.

Acer computers are designed for a variety of purposes, including ultrabooks for mobile use, gaming laptops for gamers, affordable options for everyday tasks, and 2-in-1 convertible laptops for versatility. Acer's product portfolio also includes tablets that offer portable computing and multimedia capabilities.

77.5%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
