Reviews for the Acer Aspire 7535G-824G50Mn

80% Acer Aspire 7535G-824G50Mn - 17.3in Laptop Review
Source: Trusted Reviews English
In our recent review of it we might have complained about the excessively long model number of the Acer Aspire 7735Z-424G32Mn, but the company can justify it a little because of the huge range of configurations it appears to be offering in this chassis. Today, for example, we're looking at the Aspire 7535G-824G50Mn, which - on the outside, at least - is physically identical. This is another good desktop replacement from Acer, providing reasonable gaming performance and good multimedia credentials at an affordable price. It's not quite the bargain its Intel-based equivalent is, but if you want a little gaming potential you could do worse.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570: Lower middle-class GPU that features a low shader count and a 64 / 128 Bit memory bus (according to AMD 64 Bit, according to some GPU-Z variants 128 Bit) but a high clock speed. Similar to the desktop Radeon 4550. Supports Avivo HD and DirectX 10.1.

These cards should be able to display all current games with fluent framerates but not all with high detail settings. Especially demanding games like Crysis, Age of Conan, or Mass Effect are only playable with lower settings. Less demanding (and older) games, like Fifa 08, Command & Conquer 3, or Battlefield 2142 can be played with higher detail levels.

AMD Turion X2 Ultra: The AMD Turion X2 Ultra is part of the Puma platform and a mixture of the old K9 core (form the Turion 64 X2) and some parts of the K10 architecture (memorycontroller, hypertransport, crossbar switch from the Phenom). Because of the increased L2 cache ("Ultra" CPUs) and the improved memory controller, the performance increased a bit. Still a similar clocked Core 2 Duo is noticably faster.

17.3": Meanwhile the 17 inch display size is a more frequently offered standard format for desktop-replacements. The DTR-laptops can't be carried easily, need much energy but on the other side texts can be read easily and high resolutions are no problem. DTR mainly are intended for stationary usage on desks, where the weight and the energy need are unimportant.

3.25 kg: This weight is average for notebooks. Therefore the numerous mass of laptops with 15 inch display fits in this class of weight.

80%: This rating is not convincing. It must be considered, that there exist hardly any laptops, which receive a rating below 60%. This notebook is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
