Blue-eyed? Acer launches a new, handy 14 inch notebook from the TimelineX range called Aspire 4830TG. The notebook, dressed in ice blue is suitable for routine work in the office, at home and on the move. It bids a lot of power thanks to the GT 540M graphics and Intel i5 CPU when it's needed. However, not always, as the following review will show.

Ultimately, although the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG-6808 is a bit behind the curve in terms of processing hardware, it's still an affordable, capable laptop that offers strong battery life and plenty of features for a reasonable price. It may not top the high-octane processing power of the Editors' Choice Lenovo IdeaPad Y480, but it's still a smart buy, and smart shoppers will likely find it being sold for even less.

Earlier this year, a laptop maker asked us what we predicted would happen for notebooks in 2012. An aggressively priced thin-and-light with excellent battery life and strong all-around performance, this TimelineX model checks all the boxes. It's an all-star laptop perfect for any buyer seeking maximum value.

While Ultrabooks are getting all the attention, it's worth noting there are other laptops out there that cost a good deal less but provide stronger performance. For $729, the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG-6808 offers excellent graphics, great audio and more than seven and a half hours of battery life in an attractive and lightweight package. The comparably equipped ASUS U46SV can be found for as low as $699 online, but it doesn't last nearly as long on a charge. Those looking for graphics punch in an affordable package will be psyched to own this Acer.

14.0: 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.

2.1 kg:
These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
2.2 kg:
79.2%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
