Reviews for the Acer Aspire 4820TG-6847

Performance with the Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4820TG-6847 was very impressive as it beat out most of the other laptops in this same category in testing. The system had no problem playing steaming video from the Internet, playing DVD movies, video encoding and doing the average computing tasks. Gamers will be happy to know that this laptop, thanks to the AMD Radeon discrete graphics, can play today's 3D games without much trouble. You might have to dial down some graphics settings just slightly, but in most games, it works good at the default settings.

For consumers looking for power and portability--plus a DVD drive--the Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4820TG is a very good choice. For $799 ($729 on Amazon), you get Core i5 speed and AMD graphics muscle, impressive Dolby sound, and more than 5 hours of battery life. While we wish this notebook offered stronger Wi-Fi performance, it outperforms the 14-inch competition in most tests. The ASUS U41Jc ($815) lasts longer on a charge and has better gaming chops, and the Samsung QX410 ($799) is sleeker, but both of those laptops cost at least $70 more. So if you want a lot of oomph on the go for an aggressive price, get the TimelineX AS4820TG.

480M: The Core i5-480M has only 3 MB L3 Cache (compared to the I7-620M) and clocks between 2.66-2.9 GHz (Turbo Mode). Thanks to Hyperthreading, 4 threads can be processed simultaneously. An integrated graphics card (GMA HD) and a DDR3 memory controller are also included in the package.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
14.0": 14 inch display size is a mixture between the small formats of subnotebooks and the 15 inch standard display. The reason why so many people like displays with medium size is, that this size is not exhausting for the eyes, does not need too much energy and the laptops can be kept quite compact.» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
2.1 kg: These sub-notebooks weight less than the average of all notebooks, but represent a heavier class of weight among the sub-notebooks. 13 inch displays are normal for this class of weight.
