Acer America intros the TravelMate P243 business laptop
Acer America will be adding a new notebook, dubbed P243, to its TravelMate P2 lineup of portable computers. Aimed at business users on-the-go, this model was first introduced in the United Kingdom back in May of 2012 and is now set to make its North American debut. According to a company press release, the P243 will become commercially available sometime this month, priced at $699.99 and up (or $599.99 if you choose the Sandy Bridge variant).
Gregg Prendergast, VP Commercial Sales for Acer America was quoted as saying: "Today's mobile business executive needs a PC that is robust enough to run intensive business applications while still fitting into strict budget guidelines," … "The TravelMate P243 notebook is an important addition to our professional notebook portfolio as it combines everything today's road warrior requires, including exceptional performance, enterprise-level security, durability and manageability for a best-in-class mobile experience."
Just to jog your memory, the mobile computer offers a third generation Dual-Core Intel Core i5-3210M (2.5GHz – 3.1GHz, 3MB Level 3 cache) central processing unit and a 14-inch LED-backlit widescreen display that features Intel’s WiDi technology and has a native resolution of 1366-by-768 pixels. The TravelMate laptop is further equipped with 4- to 8GB of internal DDR3 RAM, a 500GB mechanical hard drive, 5-in-1 media card reader slot, one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports complemented by Wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 adapters.
Other specs include an integrated HD web camera, the Intel HD 4000 on-board graphics controller, DVD Burner, a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security and a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional operating system.
Acer’s new P243 business notebook reportedly weighs 4.85lbs with the 6-cell 4400mAh battery that lasts for around 3.5 hours.
