Looking for a 1kg high-performance laptop? Supposedly, ASUS might just have exactly what you need. The Taiwan-based PC manufacturer has just demonstrated its latest UX21 ultra-portable notebook in Taipei.

Even though there is still one day till the Computex show officially starts, many of the participating companies have already begun introducing new products. ASUStek has proven by now it can deliver stylish laptops and its latest ultrathin device further confirms that notion.

According to various reports, the UX21 is a sleek and well-designed notebook, measuring just 17mm at its thickest point.  Available with an anodized aluminum alloy body for enhanced durability, this laptop weighs about 2.4lbs. In addition, the ultra-portable offering will most certainly raise some eyebrows considering the fact that it can be customized with up to an Intel Core i7 central processing unit.

Further “exciting” characteristics reportedly include a SATA III SSD (solid-stated drive, 6Gbps), USB 3.0 connectivity and a glass track pad. ASUS claims that the UX21 can resume in about 2 seconds thanks to an instant on feature.

This ultra-thin and light notebook is expected to go on sale in September of 2011.
