ARCHOS announces the 9.7-inch Element 97 Carbon Android 4.0 tablet priced at just $249.99

Teaser
Priced at $249.99, this 9.7-inch ICS-equipped tablet has a great set of features for a fantastic price.

Tablets are getting cheaper, and with ARCHO's new line of "Element" tablets, the "97 Carbon" is no exception. This 9.7" tablet is priced at just $249.99, and comes equipped with a 1024x768 IPS display, a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 single-core processor, a 0.3MP front-facing camera & a 2.0MP rear-facing camera, HDMI out, microSD support (up to 32GB), and a full-size USB 2.0 port.

While we all would've liked to have seen a dual-core CPU, it's still perfectly fine for those who wish to read books, browse the web, play some light games, make and receive video calls, and more, all without being limited to a 7-inch screen. Fortunately, despite having a single-core processor that's clocked at 1GHz, this tablet can decode 1080p video without a problem, even to an external display via HDMI.

In terms of software, Android 4.0, aka "Ice Cream Sandwich", is on-board, also with Google Play support. Pre-loaded on the tablet comes several fairly useful applications, including Office Suite Viewer, News Republic, Brief Me, and a demo of World of Goo.

The 97 Carbon is expected to be released sometime this month at, again, the great price of $249.99.

You can find more information about the tablet in the press release below, or at the device's home page.
